What did my dream mean?

It was a huge room and in my dream I would be trying to work out how I could make that room part of our home, only it seemed completely disjointed from the rest of the house - no easy way to get to it from another room and besides, I was completely terrified of going in there. When I finally admitted to myself that having been sexually abused as a child had effected me and I began counselling, I never had that dream again.
I've had other recurring dreams since then and they always stop once I figure out what they are all about.
My mum on the other hand, had a dream that her hair was broccoli - any suggestions?? :rotfl:
I'm so glad the counselling helped.
The dream about the house was telling you there was something you were frightened and reluctant to explore but it was important you did.
The house is you and the room a part of you.
Mums hair dream is her thinking about her thoughts and ideas and the fact her hair turns into a healthy food tells her these ideas and thoughts are perfectly healthy.I don't get nearly enough credit for not being a violent psychopath.0 -
Do you mean how do I know the meaning of the dreams for sure?
I don't.
I first got interested in dreams when my stepdad brought home a huge, beautiful, glossy, hardback book about dreams, their meanings, I was only young and was enthralled by the mystical pictures.
He was very interested in spiritualism of ourselves, he was a member of the divine light mission in his youth and although no longer part of it he still enjoyed self discovery.
We would sit and pour over it together me telling him daft dreams and him reading out the meaning.
When I was 12 he changed he and my mum were having an awful time, he was being dreadful to me, this lasted for 2 years.
He left
I was devastated.
He died a few years ago, very suddenly.
When we were clearing out his flat I found the dreams book and asked his daughter, my sister if I could keep it.
I took it home and I read it.
As I read I saw so many of my dreams interpret into the emotions I felt at that time I was amazed.
I started reading into it more, dismissing the claims that dreams tell the future, but keeping an open mind , you never know!
I looked more into the pure interpretation side.
I started analysing my own dreams, my husbands, family they all got fed up of me.
I'm not saying I have any powers, I can just read books.
I don't tell people what I think they should do, I try not to put my own personal interpretation on them too much, it's easy to build a scenario in your head and I wouldn't want to project that onto anyone.
Theres a lot of science involved, I will go into if anyone wishes but now I'm gonna watch strictly.
I mean how can you 'interpret meaning' in a dream when everybody has different opinions and perception of the world, how one person sees something will be different to another, therefore what goes on in someone's head is different to the next person. Hence how can you apply a one size for all definition?0 -

It has come from years of reasearch into dreams, you find that in the main we all have very similar dreams, even if the scenario changes the main content remains the same.
If 100 people dream of say floods or tidal waves and all report feeling overwhelmed by emotion at the time they were dreaming this we can deduce that the flood of water indicates a flood of emotion.
It really is as basic as that.
Many dreams have very literal meanings, an out of control car is a feeling of loss of control in every day life.
Dreams have been being analysed for thousands of years.
I don't believe they fortell the future.I don't get nearly enough credit for not being a violent psychopath.0 -
Apologies for the thread hijack but... I had a dream this morning and it went like this...
I was at my ex bf's house (outside) although it wasn't his real house, his brother was there and we were chatting for ages, can't remember about what but remember him saying that he thought he looked like my ex. I scoffed at it and said they look completely different.
There were loads of random kids playing in the street and some music came on and I started to dance ridiculously, messing about...? Then my ex appeared and he joined me dancing, then it turned into a slow dance and we kissed and I woke up.
Any ideas Pukkamum?0 -
P.s carl try it for yourself if you've had recurring dreams or a very vivd and memorable dream try and recall how you were feeling at the time in your waking life, and if you can see a theme or a link, theres nothing mystical about it.
Our mind will create dreams that we can associate with, so it will place us in familiar scenarios which is why they feel so personal.I don't get nearly enough credit for not being a violent psychopath.0 -
Can I ask if your brother is older or younger and whether the ex was from when you were quite a bit younger?Apologies for the thread hijack but... I had a dream this morning and it went like this...

About a year after my dad died from cancer, I had the following dream: the scene was like the brief Encounter railway station, right down to it being in black and white - all dark and atmospheric. I walked along the platform and my dad was stood at the open window of a train carriage. He looked so fit and well and I said " oh dad,so it was all a dream - you're alive!' He just smiled and then I woke up with jolt and at that moment could not make out if the dream was real life and I was now dreaming that he had died..
All I know is that it left me with a great sense of peace and a final image of his lovely, lovely smile and not the dishevelled and pained look of his final days. I love that dream just for that alone.
My less happy dream was that I was in the middle toilet cubicle at work, feeling that I was being watched. and then a head and shoulders mounted on a skateboard came under the space under the door:eek: I started shouting and kicking at it and woke to the sound of my husband shouting out in pain as I was kicking him to pieces:p. My friends think it means I am a bit weird:rotfl:
Any other interpretations?0 -

The house is you, being outside the house tells me you are thinking about how you are percived by others.
Seeing an older brother indicates a desire to be seen as older and wiser.
Dancing with the children in a wild childlike way suggests that this is how you are seen by others.
Your ex coming along and dancing in a much more adult way suggests that n order to be seen as older and wiser you must not repeat past mistakes and let go of old behaviour patterns.
The kiss is you feeling you need to embrace or adopt some part of his personality in order to be seen as older and wiser.
Hope this makes some sense, feedback and or discussion welcome.I don't get nearly enough credit for not being a violent psychopath.0 -

Toilets represent our needs.
The desperation for and lack of privacy is indicative of not wanting to appear needy, wanting others to recognise and understand your needs without you vocalising them.
A way to resolve this is to start putting your own needs first, say no more often.
The violence represents how strongly you feel about this.
The dream about your dad is lovely, I have had similar dreams about deceased relatives, I think it is just your minds way of letting you feel at peace about their death.I don't get nearly enough credit for not being a violent psychopath.0
