P.s dropsy please don't see this interpretation as meaning you in the depths of despair and haven't realised, it could just be something small playing on the back of your mind.

it isn't just 'random' stuff in your head at bedtime. dreams are important. if you CAN interpret your dream you can make sense of areas of your life.
its also been widely reported that whole symphonies came to musicians while they were sleeping. so were 'scientific' breakthroughs. so are 'visions'.
dreams are widely studied - but, we are not remotely near understanding why we dream.

And as if by magic she appears...............
Ok I will start by talking about the people with blurred faces, it's really not as scary as it seems.
When we dream about people it's usually the case that there is some aspect of their personality or character our sub concious feels we need to adopt in order to work through a problem or situation.
As your dream ladies face was blurred I would assume that she is incidental but I may get back to that, something in the back of my head is niggling.
The gym would indicate to me that you are considering the aspects of your identity that you choose to show to others in your waking life. The gym in your dream symbolises a temporary identity that you are presenting to other people but this identity is not really your true self and feels quite distant from who you really are.
When the picture of yourself was shown but as a younger person I would guess that the teen in the pic is who you really are and by ripping it up you are denying or trying to hide your true feelings or identity or some facet of your personality.
Your sister being there indicates you feel she knows the 'true' you, she is a direct link to your past self.
If I had this dream I would be thinking that the persona I show others feels wrong.

    Thanks pukkamum..
I think you've definitely hit on something when you talk about persona, and how it relates to the gym.
I have adopted an alter ego at the gym, i go into a sort of trance and am very focused and talk very little. I am also tanning now and way more conscious of my appearance, but its not vanity..
Because, for the last 5 years ive completely neglected my health and appearance.
Also, the teenager bit, back then i was very lost and immature and made mistakes (i didnt mention that in my original post), and maybe im trying to hide emotion..im way less emotive than i used to be, sometimes thats good, but i dont think its natural for me.
    Anyway, thanks again.

Now I think the blurred faces are people who he is just 'getting to know', as you are still almost strangers their faces appear blurred.
As to ripping up the photo of yourself as a teenager - perhaps you feel that people are not seeing you as a mature person? or are you striving to appear more mature than you really are?
I too think this is why your sister appears - she knows who you really are and as she is smiling at you it appears she approves of the more mature you. (could you be encouraged enough by this to perhaps make contact and mend bridges with her?)
I think the dream IS quite positive!

    Great post, thanks.

The bit about maturity was SPOT ON, i feel very mature but still think others see me as immature, so maybe, its false maturity that im feeling..? Coupled with insecurity?
But youre right, my sis knows the true me..
Btw, maybe i will, but its awkward..i got to think..
Also, youre right, the overall feeling i got from the dream was positive, very positive on reflection, im just naturally skeptical and the whole blurry face thing was annoying.
    But thanks man!

Thanks for getting back to me, after reading this post I am inclined to think that you don't feel the persona you are now showing is wrong, just different, so sometimes feels slightly unfomfortable.
Good on you for taking control of your appearence and health again and don' worry the people at the gym don't see the emotional teen, they see you as you are now.
I radically changed my appearence for the better years ago and it took a while before my new persona felt totally comfortable.

  • pukkamum, For many years I had a recurring dream that the house I lived in had an extra room in which there were a few items that I had forgotten about, but I knew I could make use of. It was a huge room and in my dream I would be trying to work out how I could make that room part of our home, only it seemed completely disjointed from the rest of the house - no easy way to get to it from another room and besides, I was completely terrified of going in there. When I finally admitted to myself that having been sexually abused as a child had effected me and I began counselling, I never had that dream again.

I've had other recurring dreams since then and they always stop once I figure out what they are all about.

My mum on the other hand, had a dream that her hair was broccoli - any suggestions?? :rotfl:

PS sorry to hijack thread with my dreams x

So so so so so TRUE!! We got there in the end!!!

My god, this has actually been REALLY helpful! Thankyou so much.

I didnt need to pay a counsellor, i got this for free.

    Have a great weekend.

Funny enough, I had a weird dream last nigh too.
All I remember that I was in some sort of prison ( I think I was a prisoner)and there was some investigation going on how we were treated.
I remember having a bowl of food in front of me with some tomatoey pasta slop. But when I ate it I found nuts and bolts, nails and metal springs in it. I didn`t see any faces, but I know the guard was watching and making me eat it. I woke up sweaty and only remembering this.
Has it got something to do with the tv news a few days ago about how badly prisoners are treated in uk?
And other thing happened , which was relevant to this dream, but I just cant remember what it was.
Does it suggest that dreams are just mush up things that chapped in our lives in some way?

When I think about my dreams most of them are made up of a weird mixture of things that have happened the day before, things that I have been worrying about and things that I have seen on TV.

Exactly yours dreams are the minds way of making sense of thing we have experienced, it is a way of letting us know important things we may have missed in our waking life.
This is why dream analysis is so useful.
