why, what are they saying to you?

They are saying I can leave but firstly I have not received any notification of the price rises and secondly, we paid 12 months line rental upfront 2 days before these rise were announced and they are saying (correctly unfortunatly) that this is not refundable,

Added to this, we paid £60 for new BT6500 phones just before joining them, caller display is esssential to get the call blocking to work and I am reluctant to start another 12 month contract in January to get the free caller display.

As I said, we were supposed to get a call last night but it never materialised.

I am guessing I won;t have much of an argument with these issues but it's worth a go.
  • All sorted. Left bt penalty free. They tried their best getting money out of me. Even denying at one point that my broadband wasnt going up, until I pointed out on my account page that it clearly was and even the bloke on the online chat confirmed this. Got2 weeks left with them then off to sky and save £21 a month. Yes it will be slower but I would rather save money.

I'm planning to go to Sky as well, got a reply back from a the CEO office that was a bit vague, so sent another email asking that the email means calls, broadband & tv, so got a yes back this morning, maybe i'm being OTT, but i'm wanting to make 100% sure that there isn't any confusion over what i mean to what BT mean.

Sent back another email this morning, saying i now have my MAC and intend you use it today and out of courtesy i will tell them change over date when i contact my new supplier, but before i do, i want to double check that these waiver of charges also includes the Vision + box as obviously i have had it for less than 12 months and i don't want stung for £200, so just waiting on a reply.

Ordered Sky Talk & broadband as well, come January i was going to be paying nearly £50 to BT a month, add my Sky sub and i would have been paying out just over £92 combined up to the end of my BT contract in May, now having everything with Sky i'm going to save £25 a month, even taking the Vision price out, like for like with calls, broadband, caller display & line rental, i'm still about £15 a month better off.

Was also told the change over should take 2 weeks, as currently don't have an actual move date yet.

I gave BT a chance but they have managed to muck things up over and over, BT Sport is nowhere near the standard of Sky Sports and to be honest it isn't something i will miss, most of the PL games haven't been all that great, with the pundits being even worse!

I'm starting to think there must be a 12 month contract department at BT, that are constantly trying to think what they can add to the con/tidied in for another year club!

Well I finally got the price rise email yesterday afternoon, so I am going to have another go.

Incidentally, did anyone see the Paul Lewis article on BBC Breakfast this week Mobile users win penalty-free switch from Ofcom. Applies to broadband contracts as well. No good to us as it starts in 3 months time, but at least we shouldn't have all this hassle in the future.

Wish me luck, I'm going in! :money:

Following on from yet another on-line chat session and a callback from the Customer Options Team I am now in possession of a MAC.

I had to go through the process of convincing BT, yet again, that my prices were going up. After being transferred to Customer Options, I explained about receiving the email and the guy said, "what is it you want?", I said I wanted to leave so needed a MAC. He commented that I had only been with them for 5 months, not that it is relevant, and then generated a MAC.

He did not mention any penalty charges, so I just got him to confirm that I could leave penalty free and he said yes. Just hope that's the end of it :o

  • Nice one. So who are yiu going with now? Sky dont muck ariund. Ordered last night and they sorted it out with bt first thing and I move over in 2 weeks. It may be to a slower connection but £21 a month saving is £21. Better in my pocket than theirs

I'm going to Plusnet Unlimited fibre, Sky are more expensive than BT for fibre. I'm saving £13 a month for the first 9 months then £6 thereafter. I intend to switch my phone line too and will pay upfront as I do with BT.
