Lied to about iPhone availability, where do I stand?

The Three shops may just be franchises with staff not directly employed by Three. So are in competition with each other as well as the other networks.
My old black iPhone 5 lives in a rubber armoured Griffin Survivor case, so it could be any colour as it's not visible and doesn't even look like an iPhone
Given the volatility of the networks and their prices at the moment with O2/Vodafone adding new 4G frequency bands, EE removing masts and little in the way of 4G coverage I am surprised anyone would rush to buy into a contract phone deal where you are tied to one network for 24 months.
Before I bought my iPhone 5 directly from Apple, I was told by a Three store employee it would be about £50 cheaper over 2 years to buy one from their Store on the "One Plan", compared to buying one from Apple and taking a 30 day contract SIM at £25 a month... Shortly afterwards the SIM only One Plan price dropped to £18 (a saving of £168 over 24 months)!0 -
Exactly. I don't understand why consumers are so willing to commit to 24-month contracts, especially in this fast-changing environment, just because they refuse to save up in advance for their iPhones. If they really can't afford a few hundred quid in one hit or refuse to save up in advance, then it would be cheaper in many cases to get a 14.9% APR loan from Apple.Frozen_up_north wrote: »Given the volatility of the networks and their prices at the moment with O2/Vodafone adding new 4G frequency bands, EE removing masts and little in the way of 4G coverage I am surprised anyone would rush to buy into a contract phone deal where you are tied to one network for 24 months.0 -

Maybe you should take a step back and look at your life and think about how you should make presumptions about others? If it was so ridiculous for me to spend my time asking the question it was more ridiculous of you answering it, and spending more time telling me so. Anyway apart from the few decent responses, this has basically shown me that a lot of people aren't friendly money savers here, more just looking to attack the newbies with snide, uneducated remarks surrounded in personal opinion.
I won't make any further replies, good day.
It was sarcasm, i don't care what you do with your life (didn't need a sob story), i was on the train with nothing better to do but something inside me just had to reply to your post. It's tough love, i'm afraid - a valuable lesson learnt that when you just simply must have the latest technology, if you have to wait, you wait. If you are misinformed about a car or house, that's a significant investment and i would expect to see some very supportive advice on here, but, but for a phone it seems to have triggered quite a valid response. I am sincerely sorry for any offence caused, but c'mon man, what outcome would you realistically expect from complaining to Three?
As per Martin's advice - if you can afford it, and there aren't many of us who can, next time pre-order from Apple and use a great pay monthly sim deal - i cannot rate GiffGaff highly enough (for my area anyway Medway/City of London). the networks just make a horrendous killing from iPhone tariffs/deals.
Good day, sir :beer:0 -
Blimey! Give the poor OP a break, what's with all the sniping and sarcasm?
The bloke only came on here for a bit of advice and is getting shot down.
I'm sure 99% of people's posts on here are trivial to the rest of us, but it's a forum I always considered to be a friendly place, where people ask questions and get proper answers.
If you don't like what he's posting about, why be so mean to him? Move on to the next thread!
Remember the old adage "If you can't say anything nice.. "? 😉0
