I too change my bedding weekly... at least. More often if DS has been in it or the dog has gotten it mucky. I hang the wet bedding up over doors until its mostly dry and then flick it in the dryer normally. Or if Ive loads to get through, then the dryer takes a hammering, usually in the winter months.

My tea towels tend to get minging fairly quickly as I end up wiping something up that I should have just used kitchen roll or a cloth for, but that's just me, so use a clean one as and when I need it.

Having a mucky boy at home and a dog results in my WM being on most days anyway... so I don't feel its a great chore to wash a few extra tea towels or towels, but appreciate this isn't for everyone.

Bedding weekly, hand towels and tea towels daily, and bath towels weekly; we each have our own bath towels - it's one of the things I am fussy about, and I hate sharing them. I also change dishcloths daily - another thing I am fussy about! Years ago I worked in administration in an old people's home and they used to use the same tea towels and dishcloths (no dishwasher there at the time) for at least a week, drying them off every night over the central heating pipes. They very rarely got washed (and neither did the pipes!) until a nasty stomach bug did the rounds and the home was inspected. The culprit turned out to be the tea towels and dishcloths, and allowing them to get dirtier each day then warming them up every night was breeding bacteria.

While I think we've got a bit too paranoid with keeping clean (as illustrated by Dettol's unnecessarily hands-free soap dispenser, and their latest 'laundry cleanser'), I think things like tea towels and dishcloths are breeding grounds for bacteria.

Sheets weekly, towels every other day. We all share a large bath towel - that's all I put out - so that's used 6 times after baths/showers and lots of times for hands before it's washed. If guests are over I'll pop out a hand towel.

Bed sheets every other week and towels every day as 5 of us so after 5 showers they definitely need the wash.

Sheets are washed weekly. I wouldn't wear my clothes for a week and neither would I lie in the same sheets for a week.

Bath towels are washed each time we have a bath/shower but hand towels are washed on Mondays and Fridays (that's unless someone has not washed their hands properly from working outside and leaves half the dirt on the towel... which rarely happens). I usually turn the hand towel over on Wednesday.

Bedlinen every week on a Saturday, as I need Mr LW's assistance to do it. Just wondering, do people who sleep naked change their bedlinen more frequently than people who wear nightclothes? 'Tis a thought.:o

Bath towels generally last 10 days or so I'd say (we both have a bath daily and have a towel each as we share the bath), my hair towel depends when I last coloured my hair :D and hand towels rather more frequently as they do get mucky/wet. I also have a little bar towel over the back of my perching chair in the kitchen, which gets changed very often as it's used for floury hands when I need to attend to something urgently and such like; that just gets chucked in with the next convenient wash. There's really no set routine for towels, just when they appear to need it.
If your dog thinks you're the best, don't seek a second opinion.;)

  • Sheets once a week, bathroom towel usually once a week. But I live on my own so there is only me using the towel.

There are four of us. We each have our own. Do people share bath towels? Can't be much use for the fourth one in a morning.:D
