To get back on topic - still no sign of an apology then?

    Not that I'm aware of.
  • It was my senior Manager and it was a county game - not really sure I would or indeed should be allowed to give names on an open forum.

You've got to the point of answering a few of my questions but not all of them- apologies if my summary below is incorrect but this is what I've picked up so far.

You went to a Fermanagh vs Cavan match (god help you) with a senior manager from work and a few others. He/she proceeded to tell you not to come back because you weren't in favour of a United Ireland.

    Is that correct?

Now, was he/she alone in saying this or was he/she joined by a group of others? Was this during the match or after? Was it a private conversation or did others overhear? If others overheard did they intervene? Did he/she know your politics/opinions beforehand?

I have to say I find it very strange

Hey that's quite an interrogation. I felt like I was in Castlereagh holding centre for a while there. :D

Do NOT post names on a public forum, it seems obvious that discrimination is a two way street here in NI and nobody has the moral high ground.
discrimination is more than a two way street here and elsewhere, politicians love it and some parties have a better propaganda machine than others in using it to their advantage ;)

PM sent, best not to display such information on a public forum but you wouldn't have to do much digging around to find out that this is true.

    Thanks for the PM.

Can't believe that anyone, let alone a senior manager, would be so stupid as to say something like that. Not that I'm doubting your story, just boggled at their behaviour!

So we're all agreed it does happen?

I'm sure it does - just like some people won't get promoted if they don't play golf or if they don't go out for "social drinks" with their colleagues.

All types of discrimination are wrong - promotions in work should be based on your ability to do the job (which can include how you get on with your work colleagues - but only during working hours should be relevant) and only on your ability to do the job.

Political views, what sports you play, religion, and numerous other things should not be relevant.

I think what is most shocking about this particular instance is the fact that it comes from within a section of the community which has suffered discrimination and complained about it very volubly. Why practice something your people have spent years getting rid of?

I'd say an elementt of it is retribution - they done it do us, we will do it to them mentality - childish and stupid but its the way some people think.
