  • Hi all and thanks for belated congrats Peggy.

Been in about 45 mins from my HTC little worm trial. Did 6-8 and it was like riding a bike. Everythjng came back to me. I really enjoyed myself, which is obviously a plus point.

Had some little spends today. Will update tomorrow. I'm too tired tonight, and only just finished my tea and just chilling before bed.

Just off to update signature. Need to pick up a reservation from the library today, Branston beans if cheaper than Mr T and some milk. Then i'm hoping that Fri/Sat will be NSDs as not had very many this month

Got lots of bread in, done some more Brioche (loaf this time not buns ... but DD had snaffled the last of the choc chips for Food Tech, so can't try those in it just yet). Got freezer surprise on the side for tea, was hoping it was some sort of Bean concoction but can't identify it at the mo as the writing is indistinguishable. Leftover Soup for dinner and need to make some more with apples that the girls won't eat ( got them reduced thinking i'd be saving , but oh no ...) and YS parsnips.

Nice to see the sun trying to come out this aft. Sick of the rain here at the mo!

Have done my big shop for the week and spent £40.91 which is a total of £303/71/£350 for the month so with only one more shop to do before payday should come in under budget this month, which is brilliant considering I had to refill 2 freezers - not quite there yet but getting that way.

Had another NSD yesterday so 8 for the month so far so only need another couple to reach my target but have until the end of October to do that so very hopeful.

Iceland have several packs of party nibbles reduced to 1.00

    Mini quiche
    Chicken spears
    King Prawn cocktail baskets
    Sweet Chilli King Prawn Skewers
    Garlic Chicken Pastry Swirls.

All 12 in a pack, defrost and serve. Great for serving with drinks or tasty addition to tea

Just posted this on Food and Groceries but thought it might help peeps on here.

I bought a pack of each to take to my Brothers when we have our traditional Christmas Wrap. My niece has 3 small kids and we get together to wrap their presents, everyone brings their pressies for the kids and we sit round the dining table and wrap the lot, took 6 of us 2 hours last year, glass of wine, a few songs and a lot of laughs. Thoroughly enjoyed it. and is a great help to my niece who otherwise would have to do it herself

Oops, been rubbish at logging my spends as I go, so just worked through my receipts and have spent £150.15 in supermarket so far this month  Have an 'orrible feeling that I'm not going to come in under budget this month, but it's the first time that I've tried in ages (and keep having an unexpected extra mouth to feed) so not beating myself up too much. Will keep trying to keep it low and take this as a practice month ;)

You have just the right attitude to this, theres nothing like an unexpected mouth to feed to completely screw the budget so as you say keep it as low as you can. what helps me is the odd YS bargain that I just freeze and use when there is the extra mouth to feed crops up, you don't have to eat the same just offer your guest a choice. Keep going Love, this challenge is just so worth
    it.

I can sympathise with Elle BB with extra mouth to feed, as this has also done for my budget. I somehow feel that when cooking for just the two of us it doesn't matter having leftovers or turning leftovers into a different type of meal but when there is someone else here and it's not family I feel I have to make the effort.
No shopping today (thank goodness) and I only have just over £8 to last until the end of the month. Determined to make it go as far as possible

For dinner we had HM Spinach Quiche + Bovril Couscous + roasted carrots, celery, onion and tomatoes.
