  • Went over in Septmber :( but seriously need to save money this month, so going to try and drop to £200 for October please, which started on Monday 23rd and will run for 4 weeks.. Yesterday was a NSD day - Yippee - but need to shop today. :( I have a list though, which I am determined to stick to, and hoping to get it at around £40ish then have enough for milk top ups later in the week. Have done a meal plan too, which I hope to stick to.

  • Hello, I'm afraid that I went MIA. Please can I be put down for £123 for the month of October. Many thanks.

I am not sure how it will go, but I do have a lot of tinned goods, flour etc., to make meals with, so all I need to buy is meat and bananas during the month.

    Good Luck everyone.

ETA: Forgot to mention that my October runs from September 28th to October 27th.

stocking up on value is a very good idea, as you say they do start disappearing, I find this with smart price as well.

  • Thank goodness October starts tomorrow for us!

Can I please be put down for £80 (rounding up having taken Makro shop and pet food bulk buy in to consideration!)

September was a complete write off, I gave up keeping track of how far over budget we ended up going! It's clear monthly online shops from Asda did not work for us!

New tactics for October: shop at Iceland on a work lunch break and get it delivered (possibly twice in the month) for when I get home from work.

I have found that the most expensive things have been lunches (with a fussy bf I'm just glad he eats so don't mind paying a little extra for particular cheese/ quality ham!) and then snack foods - the crisps I bought were two packs of 6 for £3 but again were a treat for bf on his travels. Bought a box at Makro for this month though so win!

It's a 4.5 week month for us and if possible I want to keep costs down as we have a weekend away for a tournament. Luckily breakfast is included at the hotel but it means taking stuff for lunches or buying and buying 2 evening meals out in the space of 2 days!

Still haven't managed to crack down on myself for meal planning yet so really need to do that! Will start a list tonight :)
