    Possibly - yes
I will have to think about it....
am I forgiven for my earlier transgression ?
  • OP - I don't think you should have to keep your cats indoors as some others have suggested. If they are missing, can you go and knock on her door and ask for them back? She'll eventually get the message if you're constantly at her door!

I also don't think your witch comment was particularly offensive, so not sure why some have reacted so badly to it.
  • Few reasons why I found 'witch' to be offensive:

    1. the lady in question may not realise that the cats live elsewhere and is only acting out of kindness..

    2. the word and tone of the post sounded quite 'aggressive' to me because of the description.

    3. the age old image of witches having cats sprang to mind - isn't that still why some people shy away from having black cats?

Just really unnecessary in my opinion.

Since this is a discussion about witches, I thought I'd mention that my partner looks gorgeous in the witch outfit she had on last Halloween and thanks to this thread, I might see if she still has it somewhere.

Yes, see your point, but seems to me that the OP is just miffed about her cats going missing, and used a term that you might say in conversation. I don't think we really need to beat up the OP about it.

    I've been Money Tipped!
    I wouldn't stress too much.

With multiple cats she can't give your the attention you can, so I reckon you have nothing to worry about.

This situation may be under the cats control rather then the humans. I have had 'stray cat chat' with several neighbours about MY oliver. However, he is very persistant. 2 neighbours voluntarily feed him still. He breaks into a 3rd, and steals their cat food. I keep a dried food bowl filled, and they get wet food every evening. Not goods enough apparently. Fat boy is sleeping on the sofa beside me now.

An apology to witches would not go amiss!

My cat has a collar that says "do not feed" that has stopped the neighbour(s) who was/were. http://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/DO-NOT-FEED-CAT-COLLARS-with-REFLECTIVE-WRITING-with-or-without-ENGRAVED-TAG-/350777222203?pt=UK_Pet_Supplies_Cats&var=&hash=item51abf3a43b

I agree - cats like their freedom; u shouldn't have to lock them up. That was a suggestion from someone who obviously doesn't have cats.

Where I lived previously, someone in the street posted a leaflet asking ppl not to feed their cat, as he had to have a special diet. If u didn't want to speak to her face-to-face, maybe post in a note with a photo of ur cat?

Tho' this lady may be acting out of kindness, some cats n dogs develop allergies, etc., so not helpful when u don't know what they've been eating. The lady may not appreciate that, if she has cats coming n going, rather than living with her full-time.

I'll get flamed for this but I don't see why the OP should apologise for what she said. As far as I can see a few posters jumped on the OP because they used a specific word and tbh I took it that the OP knew the neighbour was actually a witch.

But then if a neighbour was constantly feeding my cats and trying to entice them into their home to stay I'd be using a much stronger word than "witch". Regardless of the connotations. And the OP shouldn't have to keep her pets inside because someone has a fetish for cats.

I can't believe the OP is getting grief for calling someone a Witch,

Although I do agree that in the OP's case, she may just be a lonely old lady that likes to help look after the local cats & treasurers their company
I'm only here while I wait for Corrie to start.

You get no BS from me & if I think you are wrong I WILL tell you.
