  • Afternoon all.

Lame wolf ha ha at China joining the EU! :D

I've not done a lot today. Tbh, didn't get up till nearly half nine.

Been to asda so am stocked up for the week. There is washing on the line. Dh has mowed the front & back garden.

Dh & ds1 are off out to London later for the American football. I need to clean they conservatory a bit. It hasn't had a clean, other than a sweep, since I moved in a month ago. I will also iron the washing that's currently drying on the line.

    Love, hugs & spoons xxx
  • I'm having a major clean today! I've got a load in and I've wiped down (properly, not just a quick wipe over) all the countertops.

We have a really old 1980s kitchen (rented flat) and the sink is plastic with one of those weird drainy tray things to put your sponges in; I took that off about an hour ago and looked into the drainer holes and they were full of mould  So I got some cotton buds out and tried to clean them out, 45 minutes later and nearly all my cotton buds gone I had to admit defeat and leave the rest! I got tonnes of horrible mould out but there's still a load in there, I think I could keep going all day and still have some left. Any ideas? The only way to get in is via 8 little drainer holes but I think it goes down quite deep. Right now I'm hormonal as hell as well so I sent an angry text to the OH telling him to get onto the landlord about getting us a new sink but in hindsight I think that might be a bit too far :o

Can you spray a bleach solution in there? Must admit, that would annoy me.

I've disinfectant spray (I was spraying that like no tomorrow!) but no bleach I think. Anything HM that I could use? The trouble is the tray goes over the top so it's 'out of sight, out of mind' and then two months later I remember it exists and have to clean all the mould off it again. The tray itself gets mouldy underneath too because it's constantly damp (right next to the wet dishes rack and slightly sloped down to drain). Glad to know I'm not the only one who finds it unacceptable, was afraid I was going a bit OTT!

pour some neat value bleach over a cloth lying over it so that it gradually drips in? keep topping cloth up so the drip is constant but gradual?

    Bedroom done
    Bathroom done
    Living room done
Some of the kitchen done but not the under sink cupboard yet.
Will do the floors again later in there when the quiche has finished cooking.
    Cat stuff done.

Lovely day here. Only been out to the shops.

Thinking of knocking my voluntary work down to just 1 and a half days a week instead of 2 and a half.

Maybe try chucking a cupful of bicarbonate of soda into the plug, then pouring a good slosh of white vinegar down? It will all froth up but might help some of it move along. Follow by boiling water from the kettle? Unless you know someone who has drain rods? Does DH have a really narrow screwdriver you can poke about with?

We've had dinner already. Mum and step dad have gone (he was fit for nodding off) so kiddies are watching tangled for the 4th time since Friday and eating smarties (yuck). I'm having a cuppa while the DW is on. Nothing much else to do really.

  • The only thing I'm decluttering today is videos off my laptop.
Still feeling rough so I'm lying in bed with the dog watching films.

Just watched Blackfish, the docufilm about Seaworld and Tilikum, the orca who killed the trainer during a show. Very well done film.

Now I'm scaring myself with The Conjuring. :S

I've dragged the sofa out in the front room and bossed OH to take down the box valance and old curtain track so we can get the new pole up.. and then rehang the clean curtains.. Then we have 2 more poles, 3 blinds and a whole stack of pictures to hang.. and 5 mirrors.. and a clock and 3 posters... Best crack on then before the pixie wakes up.

    Hanging out washing first!
