Last time I was in a supermarket was when the nieces came to stay a month ago - and I got them some food when I was waiting for their train to arrive. I only go to fill up on fuel when the car needs it, around once a week at the moment. I pay at the pump if I can and never go into a shop if I can help it.

I did go into a bank last week, but that was to get bags to put coins in to bank the money we made selling plants.

If I get bored, I have a greenhouse, garden and an allotment to faff about it. And I have wine, jam and pickling to make/do. And I have three essays that need writing before the end of next month. No time to get bored!

Where I work we have an organic shop/cafe so I usually buy lunch there [humerous and pittas usually] when I forget to bring my own.

I do go to a shop to get milk once a week for our training sessions, we must have tea and coffee before working!

Very, very, rarely and I work in town!! Too busy at lunchtimes, can't be bothered on my day off or at weekends. I shop almost exclusively online unless it is a big purchase such as furniture.

I do most of my shopping online too. The only thing I buy in 'real life' generally is clothes so that I can try them on.

I live in a city centre, so I know I can always get pretty much anything I need easily within a few minutes, but I hardly go on a 'shopping trip' where that's the whole point of being out and about.

For some reason I really hate clothes shopping, Ive not bought new clothes in years unless its been online

But food shopping, even if I dont buy much, I like to go out every other day or so, strange, that I enjoy supermarket shopping and cant stand clothes or shoe shopping.

I do a weekly supermarket shop and top up on fresh fruit, veg, bread and milk from a lovely farm shop near us as we need it. There is a fresh fish shop along the beach nearby which we go to a couple of times a month. I have a small commute and try to walk as much as possible when not going to work, so I fill up with petrol every 3-4 weeks. I cant remember the last time I went into town, I hate crowds and dislike all the noise and chaos. Much prefer online shopping now.

I wonder how many people would love for the traditional high to come back.
I know many of us would so much rather a high st with a green grocer, butcher, fishmonger etc than have to go to big retail parks, especially as many of us are one car families now.
We do have a good market but that is a bus ride away no chance of walking.
Oh and whether it will return.

Only when absolutely necessary. I hate shopping and can think of nothing worse than traipsing around the supermarket or high street. Online supermarket shopping is the invention of the decade as far I am concerned, and I was called the 'catalogue queen' long before that, because almost everything I bought came out of a catalogue.

I go into shops to buy essentials that I have run out of, or for things that have to be bought in person - such as DS1 shoes - but that's all. Probably not even once a week.
  • I don't go to the shops for something to do - if I didn't know I needed it before I went, then I don't need it full.stop.
It's so easy to fritter away a £10 er a day if you just get a few cheapo bits and that adds up to £50 a week, £200 a month.

I do most of my shopping online. But if I do want to pick up something in town, I have a specific list and it's in and out once I've got anything on it.
Of course, I do have the occasional browse - if I get the buying lust for some trinket then try and force myself to leave the shop, with the promise I can go back for it next week. By then, the lust has usually passed though:D

I have broken my habit of charity shop browsing, because then I get the 'oh but I will never ever see this again if I don't buy it right now' panic scenario and only about 1 item of clothing in 20 was ever a successful purchase that I looked great in once I got it home.
I try to take one day at a time, but sometimes several days attack me at once

I would much prefer to shop in a traditional high street. Near the town where I use to live there was a little village that had a fab butchers, greengrocers, fishmongers and bakery etc. There was a lovely community atmosphere, people felt valued and cared for as customers and the quality of the produce was far better than you can buy in supermarkets.

I hate shopping for anything. I usually buy clothes online (don't buy many clothes) and I do an online shop for cat food and litter roughly every 4 to 6 weeks. Me and OH (he hates shopping too) go food shopping as rarely as possible, about every 6 weeks. We try and do a largish shop, stocking up on tinned items, spices, herbs etc. We also buy quite a lot of veg (we are vegetarian) and I will try and use it to make meals which I can freeze. In one day we will go to Sainsbury, Aldi, Lidl and Farm Foods.

I have a milkman so no need to run to the shops for that. I try and make my own bread but always have at least 1 loaf in the freezer (also have milk, cheese etc in the freezer).

If I run out of anything I try and manage without it but if it is something I really need I will usually walk to the local Co-op (about 5 minute walk away).

About once a month I get a bus into my local town and buy anything I might need from places like Wilkinson, Poundland etc (cleaning items, washing up sponges etc). I also go the library then and treat myself to at least a coffee if not lunch. I can no longer walk to and from town (about 2 miles) because of health problems and the bus costs £3.80 return which I begrudge paying so that is why I go so rarely. On my trips into town I usually go to the market and buy fruit and veg and cheese (we have a really good cheese stall with very good prices).

I never go to window shop or just walk round shops as I find that boring. Also, as other posters have said, you end up spending money on things you really don't want or need and I, for some reason, find it almost impossible to go to shops and not have a coffee!
