Have you sold yours - signed etc
Have you your mortgage sorted for new property?
Answer to these will determine answer to your question above:D
Hi, from what I can gather I'm in a good buying position. I'm ready to buy, I've got access to the money (with a bit of wheeling and dealing) its just a matter of haggling over the price.0 -
It is definitely a lack of knowledge type thing.
A friend of mine years ago was a single mum. She was amazed how little I spent on shopping each week for 5 of us and that was pre MSE. She used to spend more than me on 3 and 2 were little ones.
I offered to take her shopping one day and look for normal bargains with her. She would buy tiny tins of baked beans for the kids, which obviously cheaper if she had bought pack of 4 large ones and kept in fridge leftover for couple days, she did not realise you could do this.
She also would buy 4 pack of toilet rolll every week, pick up 1 pizza even though maybe on bogof, or even when I checked one of her receipts at later date she had bought 2 pizzas thinking they were bogof but at the time were B1G2F so had been charged an extortion and not realised.
I don't think I managed to change her shopping habits as she just had the set ways of going every weeks for more or less the same things not understanding the concept of if she bought offer this week she would not need to buy it next week.
I think those sort of things should be taught at school instead of if 50 cars were lined up nose to nose and 3 measure xxx how long would 1 be.
I totally agree, should be part of home economics....is that subject even taught in school nowadays?
Imagine, exam questions on muggle shopping :rotfl:0 -

Morning all
Looks like housework today but hoping for a glitch so I can leave it without feeling too guilty
Good luck with everyone attempting to give up smoking and/or booze. Gave up smoking 8 years ago - still don't know what I did with the £££s saved. Still so glad I did - certainly couldn't afford ciggies now:eek:0 -
I guess it all depends on people's circumstances. I'm out to get the best deal possible but don't want to lose the house to someone else.
This is what I have always done when buying a home...I have moved house 6 times!
Ask them what they'll accept (I did this within 10min of viewing the house)
Then cut this price
Asking them to hold the house sale for you (don't allow anymore viewing's or report house as under offer)
Tell them your offer will be sent to their lawyer next morning ( pending survey reports)
I have always said I would pay them £1000 if I pull out of the sale for no good reason ( the money would be an agreement between both lawyer's...no-one ever expected this they trusted my word)
This always worked for me!
Good luck!0 -

I've just checked and it says last date for collecting is the 19th Oct so I'm hoping they come out not long after.
If it's any good I might get a second one in red or purple(only black available at the moment
) and let DH keep the black one.
I also blew loads of my CC vouchers on clothing at the weekend
Flaming kids need to stop growing!
I want the purple one so if I guess I'll have to wait for it anyway  or maybe just wait until there's another £20 off electrical :think:There comes a time in every woman's life when the only thing that helps is a glass of champagne ... Bette Davis0 -

Post on the housing board for advice from people who hang out there.
What area is it in? Some parts, like London, get offers near asking price very quickly, other parts take much longer to get offers at all.
I would say that people would need to be desperate sellers to accept a low offer so quickly.
Thanks, I didn't know there was a housing board, I'll have a look when I get chance. We are in Greater Manchester and the asking price seems reasonable for the area and how big it is.0 -
