Depression can be very insular and people forget about the impact it has on others. I agree that sometimes tough love is the best way forward. By making little targets he can hopefully get there.
He's lucky to have someone like you looking out for him, even if he can't see it right now.Current debt: M&S £0(£2K) , Tesco £0 (£1.5K), Car loan 6K (paid off!) Barclaycard £1.5K (interest free for 18 months)0 -
Or perhaps when rock bottom is hit the only thing left to do is to spell out the bottom line a syllable at a time. Wishing you well and hope things plan out.Maybe he likes a bossy domineering woman lol

Give the guy a break. He's probably terrified of you and plays online games as an escape.
You're kidding, right? I said he texts me 20-25 times a day, we text each other on breaks, asking how each other is, how the day is going, what do we want for tea.
I don't stalk him, a friend knows I have been concerned about him and raised it with me. I didn't enquire what he was doing, he told me if you'll read it properly.
I have given him plenty of breaks, hence why I'm at the end of my tether. It's nice to know that you know my husband better than me!0 -
May be he likes being talked to as an adult instead of "gentle " which I would fpund denigrating and patronising ..
My sympathies to you alieth , its scary how vulnerable human is.The word "dilemma" comes from Greek where "di" means two and "lemma" means premise. Refers usually to difficult choice between two undesirable options.
Often people seem to use this word mistakenly where "quandary" would fit better.0 -
Ah. Steam isn't just a casual gaming app - it's a central game hub that allows you to play dozens of "real" games (I don't class Candy Crush or Angry Birds as a real game!) so I'm not surprised he loses hours - I probably could too.
That said, it's an explanation NOT an excuse. Fingers crossed things will look up now!

Yes, I have been really scared to say anything what might be seen as 'harsh' or tough love because I don't wanna send him deeper...
Last night though I gave him both barrels, told him to get his sh*t together, get to the bl**dy doctor, and I've had enough of him suffering and not doing anything to help himself, that I can only mummy him so much and that he needs to grab things by the balls, get moving, get off his butt and get it sorted.
Was actually really surprised with his response, really positive and acknowledging, and to be honest he seemed a lot more receptive than when I've had a quiet, gentle word.
Maybe he likes a bossy domineering woman lol
You rock girl! :T
Motivation is what us lot who are down in the dumps need so being around a bossy old boots can only be beneficial! Up to a limit of course
