Could be a bit late for this year but maybe a Christmas fair? I organised one for Cancer Research (and a spring fair the following year) and they worked well. Hired a hall, advertised the event on stallfinder, charged £20 per stall. Also had refreshments on the day and a raffle with donated prizes. Made over £1000 each time.0

Local Tv, Radio, Newspapers. My sister did Shave or Dye and raised a lot. I know that that is just a drop in the ocean for overseas treatment that is why perhaps the bigger stage such as tv would be better.
I agree. It's got to be something that will get local media attention. Our local tv news and paper are good at covering these sorts of events, whether it's waxing men's legs, or shaving people's heads - then you have to hope that the awareness created from that will go on to create wider support.0 -

double mummy - could you arrange something to happen at your wedding - that would be worth a photo and an article in the local paper.

Look at the For Luca campaign. They're coining it in.
I personally don't donate to causes that are about 1 child/person but people must do!Trying to be a man is a waste of a woman0 -

Opps - time I went to SpecSavers!
Newspapers like a "hook" so think about things that would make a good story - a group of children of the same age doing some fund raising with a mention of the justgiving page (we've done a trike trundle with pre-schoolers which made for good photos in the local paper so it can work with any age) or plan an event for his birthday (think photo of several shaved adults helping him blow out the candles!).0 -
Quick question: How does Justgiving work if it's for a child to go overseas for treatment rather than donating to a charity generally? Or is it done through a charity (ie. everyone donates, if they don't hit the target, the charity gets it but if they do the charity pays for it?).
It would help to know as well how much needs to be raised (ballpark).0 -

If it's only to benefit 1 person it can't be a registered charity. So you're basically just giving the person (or their family) cash. It's online begging, basically.Trying to be a man is a waste of a woman0 -

If you want to word it that way, I suppose you could call it begging for your childs life.
I'd have no problem with begging for it, I'd go out with a bowl on street corners if meant a chance my child could be saved and I'd knock down door of every newspaper/facebook group/online site that would listen.People don't know what they want until you show them.0
