    Excellent, thanks Bextech.
My plan is to use it with my Linksys PAP2 VOIP adaptor connected to my router and also on my Nokia N95 as I do with voipbusterpro.
I was a bit confused where you have to select the product and choose between Mobile voip and PC to phone? Can I assume that buying credit allows you to use it any way you want?
Are you happy with the sound quality of the calls you make with vyke?

You can use the credit on any of the services provided. I have been happy with the sound quality, not had any complaints either.
It's PAC not PAC Code, it's MAC not MAC Code, it's PIN not PIN Number, it's ATM not ATM Machine, it's LCD not LCD Display, it's DVD not DVD disc... It's no one not noone, It's a lot not alot, It's got not gotten... Panini is the plural of panino - there is no S!!

Thanks so much BexTech. I'm really thrilled to find out about Vyke, it looks pretty much perfect! The fact it also has an app that allows you to make cheap calls from your mobile without a wifi connection by connecting two numbers... It seems a perfect solution for people like me who suffer ridiculously high per minute call charges.
It could also be good for people that pay 10p per minute or so on pay as you go. Also neat that you can initiate the call between any two numbers so you could be abroad or something...
  • We made the change for our Business telephone Systems last month to Voip at our office and got the first phone bill today. What a savings! We make international calls and our bill was around 50% less! There are alot of voip providers so I recommend you shop around - here is a good site for side by side price comparisons:

Yes, plenty of VoIP providers out there, just need to sit down and work out which is best for you.

Yeah, I use this system when abroad. For example calling from a Spanish payphone to a UK landline initiating the call with Vyke costs 2p/min.

Thanks BexTech, it is good to have your knowledge. Vyke seems the next best thing to the Betamax providers and maybe better for the users of services like Voxalot and similar services Sipswitch as not all of them work correctly with these types of services, giving the FUP exceeded message. Vyke, if it works with Sipswitch could be my answer.
  • Hi, has anyone had problems with no caller ID showing despite it being verified? It always used to work but over the past month or so it says number withheld to everybody. I use justvoip.com using the client software

These are also worth looking at I think:
    http://www.voipconfig.com/voipbuster_config.htm
    http://backsla.sh/betamax

Very useful for comparing the betamax sites. Best to double check the prices on the actual sites though as they're not always up to date.
I think my favourite as I call pretty much only UK landlines and mobiles is JustVoip.
    Reasons are:
    1) 120 freedays for 10 Euros instead of 90 like some of the others
    2) No connection charge on calls (like with voipbusterpro which offers 365 freedays but then charges 3.9Eurocents for each 'free' call so the credit soon goes)
    3) 6.7p per minute to UK mobiles (cheapest of all the Betamax providers that offer 120 freedays)

From what I can tell for UK mobiles and landlines at least justvoip seems a good bet.
Bit cheeky that even though they all quote '10 Euros', you end up getting charged VAT and handling fees on top, so really it's 12.5 Euros (about £10).
If you want to get a good number of calls for a small amount of credit, I think Vyke is great for that (as long as your bank doesn't charge extra for foreign payments). You can select just $10 credit instead of 10GBP and it works out about £6. I calculated from that you can get 250 calls to UK Landlines at 4c a go with no expiry on credit. Compared to £10 with the Betamax providers getting free calling for 4 months.

I've been having this issue ever since I started using VOIP about a year or so ago and been trying to get it working. I've been using voipbusterpro (one of the Betamax companies) using both my Nokia N95 and PAP2 ATA device. Despite setting caller id etc. it never came up when calling people.
I have signed up to https://www.uknumber.co.uk and got a free DID number and that wouldn't work with voipbusterpro either. Vyke doesn't support DID numbers and doesn't offer an inbound service from PSTN numbers.
How have you found justvoip? Is it reliable otherwise? Did you get a DID number to work with it?
