Just paid off another £350 on my CC so the CC total is now £2094.87. OH still owes me money so and says he can pay back £100 in two weeks. That would take my CC down to under £2000 :j :j :j

Also next week the £278.92 will be taken for the car loan so that will be reduced too!

My total is now £4326.23, but I want the total to be under £4000 by 6 August. So that is my next aim.

Off to update my sig now

  • Firstly - congrats! Well done Madnessa - I've been following your thread for a while now and you're so determined and achieve so much! Do you realise you've reduced your debt by something like 2 grand in less than 2 months??!! That's fantastic!

You know, you can easily put some of your determination into losing weight too. Just out of interest, how tall are you? You and I are basically the same weight (tho I'm slightly closer to 66kgs than 65 right now!) and I want to lose at least 5kgs, hopefully 8/9 but never seem to stick at it. FYI, I'm 5ft 4.

Anyway, I also just wanted to say thanks for posting your long term goals, they're helping me believe there's a light at the end of the tunnel and also start thinking along similar lines myself.

    Hugs,
    ntl

Thanks NTL! I am just under 5.9 but I am naturally skinny. But when I went on the pill I put on loads of weight and now I am determined to get rid of it! Curves really don't suit me as I just have a bulging belly and the rest of me stays skinny. Before I went on the pill I was 60kg and that is what I want to get back to. It's so hard though! But I am really going to stick to it this time. i haven't achieved this week's goal as i am still 64.5 but i have at least lost something. And I haven't had any crisps in two whole weeks :j

That's a personal best for me.

I am aiming to be a size 10 (8 in some shops). And my size 12 trousers are starting to get a little baggy. That's the most motivating thing. More that losing weight it's the losing inches that makes me want to keep going.

Good luck with your goals ntl!

Just checked and my fifth loan payment has gone out. That means there is 1952.44 left to pay on that in seven payments.

My total has now gone down to 4042.44. Really would like to get that down to under 4000 in the next couple of weeks.

i have also got £60 in my savings pot for the car loan repayment at the end of August. So I still need £220. Last week I will have earned about £100 but for the rest of the month I won't have much work as there aren't many shift going. I only have one shift for this week so that will get me about £32. So I still need to earn £90 in the last two weeks of the month. That's three shift... with a bit of luck I might manage.

Well done Madnessa, you're really bringing that figure down in good time! I agree with Chevalier's advice re cashback sites, I spent an hour yesterday doing the free clickthrough/sign-ups on my OH's account and netted £30 (it could've been about £20 - 25 more but some of the links weren't working). It's worth having a go at, £30's not much but it's better than £0

Well done again, you must be really pleased with yourself :)

Have a question - Being new to owning a house I am not sure about the service charge. I know it was paid up until july 07 and I refunded the last owner for this. Therefore I have a bill due of about £900! Will I have to pay this in one go or can I DD it?

If I have to pay it one go I will be utterly stuffed as I have nowhere near that kind of money.

Hi hun not 100% sure to be honest, I think it depends on how the management want to do it. Maybe post this question on the house buying board on here, I'm sure someone there will know. x

Thanks! I just posted there and it depends on the freeholder. Some let you do DD but charge and others let you pay by 6-month instalments. At least 6 months would be do-able and I wouldn't have to think about it for another 6 months.

Also I just finished reading that book Skinny !!!!! and Would recommend to anyone considering becoming vegan, it will give you that little push you need to take the leap.

Everyone else stay away as it will make you feel very bad about eating meat or at the very least a little sick even if you don't care about animals very much. They're not so clean in the slaughterhouses.

I can't look at meat anymore these days and I'm gonna give it up. In fact I have given it up. Made a pasta sauce yesterday with Quorn and it was just as good. The sausages don't look very impressive though.

But I think sea food will have to stay. Love it too much and the cruelty to fish was not described in the book :o so I don't feel so guilty. I do draw the line at lobster though!

Does anyone know if it turns out being more or less expensive living without meat?

  • Good luck, Madnessa with your vegetarianism/veganism:beer: . I really admire people who can stick to their convictions about what they eat. I'm very tempted to do the same but OH is a real carnivore and whenever I try to introduce non-meat dishes he complains! He hates pasta of any kind although he loves fruit and veg. I really love it when he works away for a few days as I can eat what I like. I could anyway I suppose but it's not so easy/cost-effective having 2 different meals on the go every day.

My only worry about vegetarianism is the sources of protein. I'm on a permanent low-fat diet anyway and it was so cruel to have to give up most of my cheese (I could scoff for England) . Also, they say too many eggs per week are bad(cholesterol) so I might be a bit stuck for protein if I did it. I know there are low/no fat cheese alternatives but they don't taste too great and the texture is strange IMHO.

I'd be really interested to hear how you get on with this and I'm sure other readers of your diary would too.
    Take care
