If you haven't been sent a letter or warned that you may be dismmised in the meeting it is unlikely to happen.
Have to say though when HR schedule meetings with a general heading, they often are something sensitive.
It more or less sounds like the kind of stuff most people are going through these days so even a new job may not resolve it.
Have you tried CBT, it helps to reprogram the way you think about things.
It sounds naff and it is no means easy but try to position yourself so your job cant affect you.
I agree. Don't resign. Having been managed out before, it ain't a nice feeling. But resigning just does the employer's hard work for them.Set your goals high, and don't stop till you get there.

Thanks everyone, it has been really helpful.
Dimey - you were right about trying to have a chat and this was excellent advice. I had a feeling that there was some miscommunication, and I thought if I level with my director he would probably be ok, even if they were gunning for me. And you were right that witnessing the previous person being managed out has been the cause of a large park of my fear - and I explained this to him.
He was, and he used the word, "gobsmacked". He even went so far as to say I was very highly regarded and my job was in no way in danger. He even recommended CBT as he had used it in the past, having had to go for therapy due to job stress.
He was very glad I spoke to him and so was I - I decided to bite the bullet as I thought if everything was going to fall apart it may as well be faced. But it hasn't.:D
My director even understood my reasons when I explained them, which is why he recommended CBT as he said it is easy to start mind reading, especially as there have been big problems in the dept.
Lesson learnt - start CBT and stop worrying!!
Thanks guys for counselling me through it as I genuinely thought something serious was going to happen. Nutter!0 -
Well I'm thrilled Alicebanned.
What a great job you did. It goes to show, doesn't it. We can make things ten times worse in our heads if we are not careful.
Well you know how to handle things in future. When you get back from your holiday in your lovely new house, you can start talking to your director about promotional prospects. Good luck with the CBT.
Be happy :T~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~

Is an actual reaction to my posts, so please don't rely on anything I say.0 -
Thanks Dimey! And everyone else for such supportive comments, and for making me hold back from resigning!
I now need to keep working on self esteem and this has really helped me turn a corner.:)0
