Happy Monday Morning... if there is such a thing..... someone stole my weekend again, and I hadn't finished with it...
So lots has happened...
DD has decided she doesn't want to go on the big trip.. the downside is we lose the £350 deposit which we will need to pay back lovely mother.. the positives.. dd is much happier, she was obviously worrying about it..! It turned out that there were only 3 going out of her year group, all the rest are the year below.. everyone else had pulled out....
The other 2 going are her Best Friend who is a little unpredictable shall we say.. and her BF's boyfriend at the moment..... She then found out yesterday that the BF's boyfriend is now not going so is even more relieved that she has said no as her BF although lovely is a bit of a drama queen and I don't think my dd would have had a good trip having to look after someone else the whole time..
So that's £3k saved...!!! I also started playing about with universitys fees/loans/courses etc as dd hasn't really decided what she wants to do.. and I found not only a course that she has now decided she really wants to do but its also run at one of the top 10 uni's in the country and involves a year abroad which she does so want to do.. so she now has an aim and was positively bouncing this morning... All this costs money so at least my paltry savings towards the big trip can now be directed towards uni savings...:D
No big spends this weekend, did get OH to clear out porch so another bag of rubbish has left the building...:T
4 days until payday.... must check the bank account.. I have some money to put back in as I borrowed from savings to go food shopping but now have that back.. also got another £10 of 20p's to pay in towards our summer 2015 holiday..:D
i reached payout on ipsos so ordered a £10 voucher to go in the christmas stash.. still waiting for £5 L2shop voucher from RM survey I did at the beginnning of the month.. One poll now at £31.35 so £8.65 to go before claiming...
This week mum's taxi is out and about, dd cinema tomorrow and then working weds eve.. I will get to eat pasta with lovely mother who does finally appear to be on the mend.. well she keeps telling me she is.. :rotfl: I have a friend staying over next weekend but will probably cook - decision yet to be made...
Right best get on with some work..

Morning Puzz,
Kind of good news that your dd cancelled her school trip. Would be terrible to spend 3k just so she can deal with her BF's drama's the whole time. shame you mum will want her money back, any chance she would be a lovely mum and write it off?? (cheeky i know)
5 days till the end of January. Can't wait to say goodbye to this month, its been a troubled one for me. Just hoping we can avoid any snow, they keep threatening it, but in Dorset we do tend to be the last ones in the country to ever get it, if at all.
I don't mind the snow so a couple of days so the kids can get sledging, but after that it just gets annoying.
Hope you have a good week ahead.
Take care xx0 -
Hi Steph,
Nice idea about the deposit but I don't think she'll write it off and anyway OH can pay as he was going to pay the second big installment next week!! I was thinking of offering him the bit I have saved up, but would rather not as I have many other saving pots that could do with a small boost...!!
No snow here, we've had some hard frosts and I would rather we didn't have any of the nasty white stuff thank you very much....!!!
Take care

Money news...
Received a letter from Creation today.. I took them to the FOS originally as they were charging me £32 interest on a £36 payment.. This letter just states same arrangement for the next 12 months and I have double checked the interest rate...:D They are the only creditor I pay interest on but £10 a month on a debt which is currently £52k isn't bad...!
Received a free money mag through the post, will stick it in the car for when i'm mum taxi and waiting around...!
Have spoken to the trip organisers as they hadn't responded to my email.. (impatient..sent at 8.30am...!) and they confirmed they had it and other than losing the deposit there isn't any other money to pay.. just want that in writing in an email please...!
Lucky I checked my work diary as I found an appointment for this afternoon I had completely forgotten about...oops... must check more often...!

Hi Puzz
I used to work in schools and if we had children pull out of expensive trips parents did, technically, lose their deposit. However, parents used to ask us if another child signed up for a place could they take the existing place and hence the deposit could be refunded. Does that make sense (I know what I mean, but am wording it badly lol). You just need to explain to the school that finances are tight and this is one of the reasons you are withdrawing DD from the trip and is there any way they could refund all, or part, of the deposit - including the bit about if another child signs up for the trip.
Schools book these trips on place numbers and at an early stage do not book names against those places so it's rubbish to say the deposit is lost if another child signs up. Hope this makes some sense. Got to be worth a tryDFW Nerd No. 1484 LBM 07/01/15 Debt was £95k  Now debt free and happy :j0 -

Hi January,
Thanks for that information. Unfortunately it is an outside Company who organises the trip so have to follow there terms and conditions.. Also more have pulled out than are going so don't think they are going to get an influx of new people who want to spend £3.5k!! i shall write it off to experience and get OH to pay...haha....

Morning Puzzcat
I had to laugh at you forgetting your appointment. I have a Filofax and I am amazing at immediately writing appointments down, but then I forget to check it every day and still miss things :rotfl:.
Hope you have a good day. I agree, let hubby pay the deposit back to mum hehe
