:(:(:( Have been traveling since 10 this morning and I still have the big flight to go.....so sad leaving dd behind...I have involuntarily cried at least 6 times....let's hope that stops soon!

Not all gloom and doom, I am currently sitting in the clubhouse and fingers crossed will remain upper class by boarding....

Once I am settled home I will give more of an update...and work out how much money as have spent....

    Sad puzz....xx

Lovely to hear from you again, Puzz:j although sorry that it's such a very sad time for you. Perfectly natural for you to feel like crying especially as you and DD have always been so close. Don't try to block the tears, that's always a bad thing in the long run. As soon as you hear from DD that she has settled in, made new friends and is having a great time (despite the fact that she'll be missing you as much as you're missing her and might be tearful too temporarily) you'll begin to feel better.

Plus, IMO, tiredness makes us more emotional and you've had to do a lot of travelling recently which really saps energy levels.

Don't worry too much about how much it's all cost. This is a once-in-a-lifetime event and you can't skimp on that.

    Big hugs:kisses3:

    Happy Hump Day..

And the week is flying past.. can't believe its been 9 days since I left dd in the states... we have spoken a few times and what's app daily and she seems to be doing okay which is a relief....

All been okay this end once I got over the jet lag, although I don't feel that great today so an early night might be in order...!!! I am also very unenthusiastic about food which is most unlike me.. on the plus side I've dropped a few pounds.. no doubt will pick them up again....

And I've been on the treadmill.. okay only once but its a start and if I feel alright later I may go again...!!

    Money news..

DMP payments all done for the month.. all £35 of them...! Still saving as much as I can for everything....!!

Cashed in my 20p and 50p pots to top up the now empty clothes fund....

Still saving my £1 a day.. this doesn't actually have a purpose at the moment as all the big birthday do's are done, bar one but that's already paid for.. might start a 'bus' one for when dd's back at her usual uni next Autumn..

I am also now hosting Christmas so have started a new pot for that...

I'm still doing overtime at the weekends to raise more pennies...

I have enough money left from our trip to pay for dd's return flight at Christmas.. planning the traditional route rather than standby as I would like her home !!!! So many more pennies but so worth it I think...

Nothing that exciting to report.. all just ticking along....

    :j:j:j Friday....

Gradually getting used to dd being so far away, had a few chats now and she seems quite settled, although I haven't actually seen her.. I would like a face call at some point... still miss her like mad, and have to keep telling myself off about worrying about every little thing.. I'm sure this will ease as time goes on...

Money.. I still have some so that is good...! need to top up dd's bank as she is booking a few trips and things...still waiting to get our deposit money back.. (well some of it..) it has gone to dispute so no idea how long that takes.. the greedy landlord is trying to take 2/3rd of the deposit.. the house wasn't in that bad a condition so hopefully the girls will win more back than currently offered...

Have got a monthly health insurance to pay for, for dd.. $195..

And will be sorting the Christmas return flights in the next few weeks..

Out tomorrow for a belated birthday do for me... already paid for as we have been saving for ages for it... tried to buy a new top.. twice in town.. failed.. old top it is then..!!

Still doing a bit of overtime but not sure how many hours left to do, hoping to pick up another lot when this one is finished, fingers crossed..

Have been on the treadmill.. but only twice.... will try and get into a better regime next week...

Jet lag finally pushed off and I can now stay awake for the whole day.. apart from an afternoon nap of a weekend of course..

Shortly off into Town for some work/pay in some money and buy some salad for tonight...

No other news, LM and LF appear to be okay which is always good...

    Much Love.

Another week has shot past and I can't believe its now 4 weeks since I left dd...!!!! She appears to be having a fab time so all is good and fingers crossed it stays that way..!!!

My poor boy cat is still poorly, I have taken him to the vets twice in the last few months as he keeps sneezing, both times he was given a different injection but the sneezes have come back again so off to the vets later... OH can pay...;)

    Money news..

None really.. finished my overtime this weekend, but hope to get some more before the end of the year..... I do like extra savings...!

Have been spending.. on me..... some new bits for my holiday next month.. can't wait actually.. a week in the sun with my bff... All paid for and saved up for in cash...

No other big days/nights out planned.. and I am not proposing to organise any with Christmas fast approaching and i will sort something for the girls for the festives...

So all quiet really.. still a lazy bones and haven't been on the treadmill..... probably not going to shed a stone in the next 4 weeks pre holiday...:rotfl: Oh well I will just take it all with me..!

    That's about all folks...

Sorry to hear your boy cat is still poorly. I hope the Vet can sort out whatever it is very soon:). It's so worrying when our pets are ill. Sending hugs.

It's just a week away from the first anniversary of my beautiful, adored boy cat having to be put to sleep. His absence gets slightly easier to bear as the time goes by but I still find myself shedding a few tears when I go in one of his favourite spots in the garden or yesterday when I reorganised the furniture in the small dining room where I spend a lot of time. I call it 'dining room' as that's what it was decades ago but now it's just a little sitting room where I have my recliner chair, bookcases and printer. It overlooks the garden and has a French door to the outside and it's where we have the cat flap. He used to like to sprawl out in the other chair that's close up to the radiator. I didn't like relocating 'his' chair as it seemed to be removing his memory somehow but it was keeping the heat from getting into the rest of the room. I only had it there because of him, he loved to be warm.

One bit of good news finance-wise:j. I've unearthed some paperwork purely by chance which shows I had PPI on an old account. It was one solitary monthly statement and the PPI charge shown was tiny but every little helps so I'll be going for it and putting in a claim before it's too late. I've also found out that one of my debts is unenforceable after all (the lying credit card company b******* had told me the paperwork was fully compliant:mad:). That's now just 3 left that need to be paid and F&F offers will be winging their way to them next week:j.

I also have a PPI claim to make on an old Lloyds loan but I've been putting off claiming on that one for ages because Lloyds own my biggest debt (for a credit card) and, knowing them, they'll grab any PPI repayment and use it towards paying the debt:(. I don't see why they should have it after all the interest charges that I've paid them over the years. I've almost single-handedly kept them afloat:rotfl:. More incentive for me to get that debt settled before I put in the PPI claim. Not sure yet what I'll be doing about the UE debts but one way or another I intend to be, to all intents and purposes, debt free by the time Big Ben chimes at midnight on New Year's Eve.

I'm so glad DD is settling in well and is having a good time. The prospect of what lay ahead must have been a big worry for both of you a few weeks ago.

    Take care:beer:

    Hi cbc,

how exciting to be debt free in the near future..!! I have no idea when my dfd will be, not even thinking about it at the moment with all dd's expenses...!!!

My boy cat had a steroid injection and I have changed them onto a more natural food.. (more expensive..) and he seems fine at the minute so fingers crossed...

I still look back fondly on all my previous cats/family cats, they are such characters and become part of the family so it is hard when they cross over rainbow bridge.. but at least we know they were well loved.

    Morning...

Nearly middle of October.. how did that happen.?????

dd still seems to be enjoying life over the pond.. costing me a small fortune but hey.....!! she was a bit fraught when I spoke to her last as she has an exam today.. I don't dare make any contact until its done...!!

Off on my holiday in 10 days time, can't wait for week of doing nothing....! seems a long time since I last had a holiday like that.. you can't count the last beach holiday in 2016 with LM as that was a nightmare..!!!!!

Nothing very exciting to report otherwise. all just plodding along...

Off out into the sunshine shortly to do some work..

  • Just dropping in to wish you Bon Voyage for your holiday which is excitingly close now:j:dance:. I hope all is well in Puzzland and that your boy cat is continuing to make good progress. You say the new food your are giving your pets is more expensive but we can't stint when it comes to their well-being can we? I just wish I still had a cat to cost me an arm and a leg.

After your experience obtaining a second credit card I was wondering whether to try to do the same especially as my Clearscore credit report told me I'd improve my credit score by having a higher credit limit:eek:. I expect my current Capital One card will 'up' the limit from £1000 at the end of December anyway, (they doubled it after a year from the paltry £500 they gave me at the outset) but I'm not going to ask them for an increase myself.

There was a Chrome card (Vanquis) with an APR of 24 point something or other % and a £25 Amazon voucher for signing up. When I looked at my 'offers' page I saw I was 95% likely to be approved but I didn't want to take the risk of applying and having searches done in case I was one of the 5% who get turned down:eek:. Then, the very next day I had an email from Clearscore saying my report had been updated and I had new offers. Lo and behold, there was the Chrome card with the same interest rate (which is pretty low for the type of card they give to people with rubbish credit scores like me) plus the £25 Amazon voucher and within those 24 hours I had become 'pre-approved' to definitely get one:j. No-brainer really, I applied and was immediately accepted. They gave me a starting credit limit of £1000 so things look as if they are improving for me credit-worthiness wise. I intend to use it like I do with the Cap One card, just spend on essentials like petrol and repay in full every month. I want it to heal a few wounds not for splashing out on 'stuff' I don't really need.

Have a great holiday:beer:. 'See' you when you get back.
