No one has the right to question me when I have my daughter in the car, by saying I/she don't look disabled. If however they ask me politely, then they will get a polite answer. There a proper way to do things.

But that isn't what you said. Now if i was public spirited enough to enquire of someone if they realised that they had parked in a disabled bay and were they entitled to do so and got a reply informing me I was stupid then I would never ever try to safeguard disabled parking spots ever again.

Certainly after reading the stroppy, entitled to, how dare anyone question me attitudes displayed on here surrounding parking I would watch the whole England football squad park in disabled spaces and never say a word.

REREAD what I wrote - If they say I/she doesn't look disabled... then they get the smart 4rs3 comment about not looking stupid. There are many disabilities that are invisible, and I have no qualms whatsoever about anyone politely asking me. But that don't look disabled comment is really annoying, especially for a young lass that's still coming to terms with her disability, and one you normally get from old people. Or you're too young to be in a wheelchair. You're too young to be using crutches/sticks/mobility scooter.

If however you had asked me if I realised I was in a disabled parking space, I would reply, yes, my daughter is disabled, would you like to see her badge?

To quote what I wrote earlier "Now if they say we don't look disabled, I just reply with, funny enough, you don't look stupid. But usually they get as far as the car and either they see the crutches or the chair."

But no by law, they don't have the right to see the badge.

I still don't understand how you obviously think that 2 rude comments are ok. Surely it is not the end of the world if someone suggests that your daughter doesn't appear to be disabled. Does it really warrant such a smart Alec reply? I bet you' re careful who you say it to though, bet it is not to someone who might give you a dot on the nose.

I'll say it to anyone who says my daughter doesn't look disabled. I fear no one, and anyone who dared to punch me on the nose would get my crutch wrapped round their neck. I don't condone violence, but threaten my children in any way, I'm mother lion, no matter how old then are.

IF someone hasn't learned manners, then they get no respect from me. As I previously stated, ask me politely and I'll give that respect, be 4rsey with me and I'll be 4rsey right back.

Maybe the person already in the seat had walking/standing difficulties themselves, and was !!!!ed off with being questioned if his disability wasn't obvious.
Maybe they were, but a polite, 'I'm sorry but I'm disabled/pregnant/frail/unable to stand/etc etc' is better than PI55 OFF.

Thankfully the car will be ready for next week, but this puts to bed any thoughts I had about potentially trying to commute on the tram in the long term. If I can't get a seat then it's not worth it, especially if it means I'm causing myself to be in more pain and causing more swelling on the knee.

And JFTR - I used to be polite with people until I came across so much bigotry towards disabled people. Even had one old dear climb over my daughter in her wheelchair to get to the reduced section.

Have you forgotten that a man died in a car park in an argument over a disabled parking space? Wouldn't it be something if he had made the you look stupid remark to the man who hit him. Protect my children, and your daughter is an independent adult not a child, I would never deliberately incite a potentially violent reaction from a stranger.

ive only ever had nesgative comments twice, and both times u think they were through embarassment as i really dont look like there is anything wrong with me.

i really dont expect the majority of people to go about wondering if anyone they encounter 'might' have a disability that cant be seen.
i am the minority and so font expect the majority to be aware of my needs

    I've been Money Tipped!
My husband gives up a seat, always. Yet....has often had some quite unpleasant retorts from those he has offered to.....

It hasn't put him off, but I can see why it puts others off.
