Apple will try and restrict supply to create fake demand of the 'get it now when available' crowd.

Why get it from Vodafone? Over 24 months (or whatever contract term you commit to) you'll pay more than buying from Apple and getting a £10-£15 per month SIM-only contract.

....because most people have a money tree in their garden don't they? ;)
I spent 25 years in the mobile industry, from 1994 to 2019. Worked for indies as well as the big networks, in their stores also in contact centres. I also hold a degree in telecoms engineering so I like to think I know what I’m talking about 😂

If a consumer doesn't have £549 upfront, then the iPhone is probably too expensive for them anyway.

The networks should not encourage consumers to acquire phones they cannot afford through a financially unhealthy "buy now pay later" approach.

    Each to their own.

    Is that on 4g?

Yes, Three for example will soon have unlimited 4G data for £12.90 per month.

It's not worth paying any premium for 4G anyway. It shouldn't cost more than 3G, less if anything because it has considerably more capacity than 3G and therefore more customers can be serviced simultaneously by the same spectrum. The current 4G premium is just an effort by some networks to grab some additional revenue while stupid people will pay it. Eventually 4G will cost the same, just like 2G and 3G does.

Have to say I agree wholeheartedly with both these posts.

Is it worth waiting to see what other 4g sim only offerings there may be on O2, tesco mobile, giff gaff, Vodafone ?

If you opt for a 30 day SIM deal then you have nothing to worry about. Which was what NFH was getting at earlier to be honest. You give yourself control over your mobile destiny as opposed to letting the networks lock you in for 2 years.

That makes so little sense. Apple are answerable to two groups - their shareholders and their customers. Doing what you claim will annoy both groups.

There will be higher than usual demand for the simple reason that Apple is launching a new phone and it takes them a little while for their production lines to catch up with that demand.
