  • Dear Pania

Big Hugs. We had this happen when someone stole my OH's credit card fom his desk at work in an electronic entry card office - they only took one so he didn't notice and they ran up over £3000 but the bank called us before we had received a statement. They bought ski equipment and jewelry and the jewelers had CCTV but we never heard if they were caught but the money was refunded. Since his temporary boss also taught skiing we think we know who it was but... Police never let us know anything and we didn't hae to go to court. I think we'd like to have known.

Hope you got to your appointments Ok.

    Hi Pania

Shocked to read of this just now - you poor thing, that must have been gut-wrenching. You're probably still out at your appointment - how lovely to have had an angel come to your rescue! I hope your day ends better than it began.

Hi, sorry to hear Halifax are being so unhelpful.

A couple of years ago, I had around £600+ taken out of my account via internet banking. It was before I was on broadband and I hadn't been able to download service pack 2 and my computer wasn't really protected properly. Someone had monitored my key strokes and even screen prints of choosing characters from drop down lists.

Luckily I logged into internet banking the same night and noticed all my money was gone (2 weeks before xmas  ). I rang lloydstsb straight away and they were brilliant. Increased my overdraft (free), money was back in 3 days and I had a (very cute) policeman come round to my house to take a statement. Apparently this guy had done the same to 2 other people that day. He'd tried to transfer £1,800 then £1,200 before he was successful with £600. Like he was going to get any more out of my account 2 weeks before Xmas! :rotfl:

Hopefully Halifax will get the money back to you quickly. Fingers crossed for you.
  • Hi Pania,

So sorry to hear of this - you must be devastated! Hope things worked out for you. Keep your chin up - hopefully things will be better tomorrow.

Hello everyone!! Gosh i'm overwhelmed by the support here, thankyou so so much. World was made so much better earlier and i have been able to get to colchester and not worry about northampton tomorrow:j

Yes it was absolutely gut wrenching, not least as i've been so careful with my money this month and thought i'd make it to the end without having to beg or borrow off my folks or anyone else for that matter! I'm shocked at the amount of people in such a small place that have had it happen. I can recall a couple of the sites i stupidly gave my information on that didn't ask for the security number so will duly get on to them.

I PM'd lord lewis earlier to let him know about the amount of support found here and thanking him for creating such a fantastic site. Got a lovely reply back to the effect that you are all fab!:T I agree!!! so that made me smile to.

Will call norfolk constabulary to see if it's a matter i report or not. may get some idea from the bank in the morning where the originator was located.

I'm overwhelmed at the numerous offers of financial assistance i've had from you lovely guys. made me realise that there are some kind people left on this planet and the majority appear to be here on this board!! so thank you all.

    Big big hugs

    Pania

Not jealous at all about the reply from Sir Martin.....I just got a standard "sorry, too busy to respond" reply when I pm'd him.....!!

Anyway, when we were cloned earlier in the year, we reported it to Norfolk Police and they were very helpful. There was a whole lot of them done at the petrol station near County Hall, and the police encouraged everyone to report it, so hopefully you will be ok.

Anyway, glad you made your appointments, and here's to the wonderful world of MSE!

Will speak to the police in the morning. i know in my previous career (not saying to much) we had a fraud investigation dept dedicated to internet crime. hope the same with norfolk.

(and was probably sir martins secretary!! Bit like pop stars making body guards autograph photos for them!:rotfl: )

    Thanks for everything, :T

quick update, bank investigating, overdraft extended slightly which is good, didn't want them to extend it to much as didn't want loads of money to pay back. one of the transactions was me.... experian for 89p!!! all the rest most definately not!! so a case of watch this space. spoke to a really snotty horrible lady to start with who refused to do anything. then got the fraud dept number and spoke to a guy who was really helpful and lovely.
