OH S***! card been cloned account empty

I need a hug!! Sitting here infloods of tears, some bar steward has made £150 of internet transactions between 2 am and 4 am this morning with my card details to stupid internet companies.
Checked online banking and my account is empty.
Called halifax in a panic and they told me straight away it was fraudulent due to time they were done. but can't do anything until 24 hours after payments come out and a form is filled in.
Need to get to colchester for an appointment today and northampton tomorrow and only have quarter of a tank of petrol.
christ why does this have to happen when i've been so bloody careful to.
sorry just need a hug.

Hi thats terrible news. can you ask the bank for access to some funds until this has been sorted, if you explain the situation they might be able to help.

they won't extend my overdraft until they've filled the form in and they won't do that until the funds have cleared the account in 24 hours. Asked the guy how i got to work and he just said he had to stick to protocol!!

    Oh sweetheart that is awful!!

There is one good thing to this. At least your bank are willing to help and know that the payments are illegal.

Do you know if you'll get the money back? Did you know that your card had gone missing.

    Hi pania

How awful! Poor you! Hugs coming your way.

I know it doesn't solve your immediate problem, but this happened to me earlier this year and the money was refunded really quickly and they didn't charge me for going over the overdraft.

Hope you make it to your meetings pania, let us know how you manage.

Lots of sympathy, but this highlights one thing:-

ONLY use your debit card in an ATM, or possibly in big stores that you trust. NEVER, NEVER use it on the net.
Your debit card is the key to every penny in your bank account.

Always use a credit card, then if it is cloned it is the bank's money being stolen not yours ! BUT, always pay it off at then end of the month.
  • Omg that's awful :grouphug: Has Lenny said do you think the petrol will last I hope the bank get it sorted quickly for you.
    Take care
