    Hi everyone.
Thankyou so much for your words of support.

There is an angel on this site and i just want to say thankyou to that person for the unbelievable kindness that they have just shown to me. You know who you are ;-)

This board brings people together at their toughest moment. The love support and kindness found here is unique amongst the whole world wide web and it frequently staggers me how far people will go for another that we have only just met.
Martin should be proud that he has created this site and this unique community.

    Thankyou one and all.

  • Total scumbags! Why do people do this? There seems alot of this going on atm. I use another forum and it seems to be happening in petrol stations (esp Shell).

Hope you get it all sorted and all your money back.

Hi hun and I am so sorry to hear your bad news.

This sort of thing always happens when your just getting yourself sorted and least expect it. really knocks you flat on your face.

It happened to me 2 years ago and 3 days after payday. they took a grand out of my account within 3 hrs, I was with halifax too. They asked me if I was sure that I or my husband had not used my card, my reply was I am definate on that cos at the time of the transactions I was in hospital GIVING BIRTH to our daughter and hubby was with me! Not impressed with halifax at all and not with them any more, they were a nightmare - told me it would take max 6 weeks to get the money back and a refund on all the bank charges that happed due to direct debits bouncing everywhere( which they told me they would make sure didn't bounce, but what a supprise they did!). and 4 months later still did not have the money back.

They would not let me have an overdraft at all! and I had an account that was not able to go overdrawn, but these tricksters managed to make me go way overdrawn, I would really like to know how though?

I am with Nationwide now as they were recommended by a friend and my dad. they have been great so far (though have not had that sort of problem to deal with yet)

I know how you feel, this happened to me 4 yrs ago when I had no OD. Someone cloned my card and took my entire wage £800. Abbey National agreed straight away that it wasn't me and offered me an OD of £800 while the sorted the paper work to get the money back.
However, they took weeks and when they did return it I got it in sums of £150 and £200 a time, also they didn't tell me when it was going into the account, so not being as finacial vigilant then as I am now I didn't reduce the OD as funds went in. So here I am 4 yrs later, from £0 OD to one of £900!!! (I don't even wanna think about the interest I've paid over that time).

Keep an eye on your funds and your bank, dont let this undo all your good work so far. Am sending you happy thoughts

thanks LVU, amazing how many people it's happened to. and i thought chip and pin was meant to prevent it but i guess that doesn't cover card transactions. i'm just so glad i checked it this morning and didn't go through the humiliation of standing in a petrol station wondering why my card had been declined.

    Hi

Just wanted to let you know that my Halifax card got cloned in February this year and they took just under £2000 out over a few days - they actually took it out via an ATM machine in Turkey:rolleyes:
    .

Halifax were great with me. I had to answer lots of questions over the phone & they agreed that moment that I would not be charged for any fees incurred and my money was refunded 3 weeks after the call. We were lucky that we could borrow money off our 15 yr old daughter who saves for England :rotfl: so were weren't desperate but I'm sure if you mention how great your need is they will speed up the process.

Incidently, I didn't have to fill in any forms at all - it was all done via the telephone.
Sometimes it's important to work for that pot of gold...But other times it's essential to take time off and to make sure that your most important decision in the day simply consists of choosing which color to slide down on the rainbow...

thats a bit of good news. naff at filling forms out. i'd imagine they'd do it for me over the phone. really glad to hear you got your money back. they did say it could take up to a month but luckily i've got some ebay money and an overpayment refund coming through over next week so should be able to straighten things out. was just how i was going to get to work over next couple that i panicked about but that has now been resolved thank god.

glad you have such a wise daughter to save money, it's a useful fall back!! :-)
