Dowe Egbert's coffee was 200g now 190g for same price Birds eye potato waffles was 12 for £1 quite often. Pack size reduces to 10 and price is now £1.50. Supermarkets own brand waffles are OK and often £1 though.0

Aldi frozen Chicken Kievs - previously 6 per pack - have now shrunk to 4 per pack. The price has only shrunk by about 20p though!"If you dream alone it will remain just a dream. But if we all dream together it will become reality"0

Ribena shrunk from 2 litres to 1.5 litre bottles. Price stays the same though so 25% less for same price. Smaller bottles have shrunk too, can't recall what to though.0

Sadly, one of the reasons that the size of things like chocolate bars are shrinking, is in in order to meet ..... government targets.
All the major manufacturers have signed up to the Public Responsibility Deal on Public Health and promised to limit the number of calories in a chocolate bar. And of course, there isn't much you can do to reduce the number of calories in a chocolate bar, other than make it smaller. So it's all for you own good.:)
Naturally the fact that this also allows the manufacturers to effectively jack up the price without anyone supposedly noticing is entirely co-incidental.
So I buy a 3 pack of (much smaller) Crunchie bars tonight and end up polishing off all 3 so I have actually consumed MORE calories as a result.
Great job Government.:mad::D0 -
And Friday I bought a twin pack of smaller Double Deckers. Despite my good intentions of only eating one and saving one, I scoffed both of them!"If you dream alone it will remain just a dream. But if we all dream together it will become reality"0

Doesn't add up in that making packets smaller, the price does not also decrease. That is down to the makers of the product, nothing to do with the Government.0 -
ASDA have just reduced the pack size they sell from the usual 500g to 250g.
At the time of posting, 500g packs are still available in Sainsbury's for 75p and in Tesco for 72p.
Update: Tesco have just also reduced the pack size of Britannia beef dripping to 250g. Their price is 69p.
Is this down to the manufacturer (Princes) or the supermarkets?
Anyway, it might be a good time to stock up with a couple of 500g packs from Sainsbury's.
Update: Tesco, Eastville, Bristol still had 500g packs at 72p on the shelf earlier today. If you fold it in half, will an Audi A4 fit in a Citroen C5?

Of course you're right but it does feel like this government have been more than willing to support businesses whatever they're up to.

The halving of the Britannia beef dripping pack size is due to the manufacturer.
From the reply to my enquiry to Princes, "... Britannia Dripping is now being produced in 250g packs. The pack size has been reformulated ... based on consumers' feedback."
They clearly didn't ask anyone on here. If you fold it in half, will an Audi A4 fit in a Citroen C5?
