The Great 'shrinking food and other items' Hunt

A loaf used to be a standardised weight.
More silly laws from Europe - what does the unit pricing label on the shelf say?

Opened a new box of Bird's Eye frozen chicken pies (box of 4) last night.
Could not believe it when I took one out to cook and found that it had shrunk drastically in size - was almost flat.
Don't have an old box to compare weight but I'm certain they are significantly smaller now.
I'm getting totally sick of this. It's happening to so many items. These companies are being crafty as hell and treating their customers dishonestly with their sneaky ways.
I for one have had enough. I won't be buying any Bird's Eye pies any more in future and every other product I discover to be covertly shrinking will also be struck off my future "to buy" lists.
I'm a complete muppet when it comes to cooking things from scratch - can do a few things but it's not something that comes easily or naturally to me. But I'm going to start 2014 with the attitude to try again because it would seem that it's the only way to ensure I don't keep getting ripped-off (though of course I'm sure that cooking ingredients are also likely to be covertly shrinking).
It's just all getting out of hand now. I'd rather goods went up fairly in price than sneakily shrink. At least the savvy shopper could stock up if and when these things went on offer.
I just hope more and more people wise up and stop buying these things completely or only when they are half-price. A noticeable lowering of sales is the only way these companies might take notice and realise that the British public aren't complete idiots and are sick of being constantly shafted by large corporations.0 -

Noticed that Sainsburys' Basics custard creams have halved! They used to come in packs with two rows of biscuits. Now comes in a single row! Same price.
That is with the new Basics packaging.
But since the new Basics packaging their lasagne sheets have increased in size from 350-380g to 500g and gone down from 39p to 30p!This is a system account and does not represent a real person. To contact the Forum Team email forumteam@moneysavingexpert.com0 -
Is it just me or cauliflower sold by the unit have shrunk? I used to be able to buy one and use half at the time, the last one once I took out the outer leaves was tiny.
I paid £1, choose the largest I found, but it must have cost a fortune per kg, next time I'll weigh it. Not found sold by weight, I wonder why...0 -

Lidl also have a stupid rule that doesn't let you stay over an hour, or you start getting threatening letters, totally unnecessary as the car park is huge and I've never seen it full once at any day or time
I'll go to the nearest ethnic store instead, the vegs are cheap and very good.0 -

There is an Aldi 10 min walk from me and the car park is tiny. 10 mins drive there is one with a massive car park. Only go to the nearest one if I am planning to buy enough to fit in two bags for life! This is a system account and does not represent a real person.
