    I'm sorry, that's absolute !!!!.

So I worked from 16 to 23 full time and part-time during my university studies, then get sacked from a post-uni job and had to go on JSA, housing benefits, the works for about 6 months. I suppose by your logic I wasn't entitled to that and shouldn't have asked for it, despite me contributing every month I'd worked prior? What absolute tosh is that?

If we're not paying taxes to contribute to society and systems that are supposed to assist in times of hardship, then what the hell are we paying it for? Second homes for politicians? Bailing out banks? Weapons for Syria?

You can't put in a £1 and demand £100 back and scream 'I PAID IN' as justification.

By your logic I can retired to benefits now and feel no remorse because I have paid in for all of 4 years.

  • What you say about arguing with yourself in the house, do you have mental health probs in some way? do you get a bit annoyed at the job centre? stay calm with them if you go there again. See your doc and get referred to a foodbank if there is one near you. i am sure your pals wont let you starve, even if its a loaf!
Are you in the outskirts of glasgow, might be hard to find a foodbank.
You asked do i have mentail helf problems howdo i answer that am just me.
as for the doctor i have only been 2 times once for a sick line for work and
i had pnewmona about 6 years ago.
as for arguing with myself it the only convesation i have.
sometimes i can go 2 weeks and not have a conversation with anyone am a willy weirdo. so not going to doc will end up there evenchilly

No Why did YOU get sanctioned?

It really is a simple question and I can not get why you do not know but then again I can barely understand your posts at all.

  • While I have the utmost sympathy for anyone who finds themselves unemployed and unable to make ends meet, I find myself suspicious of the OP of this thread.
I can't shake the feeling that the user is "yanking our chain" and is not as illiterate as he purports to be...

    Sorry.

Being better with your hands doesn't make you stupid! Gosh, I'm useless with my hands, thank goodness for guys like you who can actually get stuff done instead of poncing around behind a keyboard!!

The fact you were spotting and solving practical problems (taping down carpet tiles, getting a brush) shows you clearly have a decent understanding of general safety and the initiative to take it seriously. I know plenty of university graduates who don't have a clue when it comes to stuff like that!

I wish I knew more about employment and local jobs in your area, you sound like the right job is just looking for you and not found you yet. Have you tried going direct to some unusual places and just asking? By unusual, I mean places like theatres that have a surplus of arty designers but regularly need stagehands who can build sets, know how to paint a floor, etc.? Theatre needs practical people.

Or how about signing up with a crewing company like Gallowglass or Stage Miracles (or someone local to you)? The jobs initially involve just being a reliable, solid, competent 'body' to move stuff around, but they also get you back into circulation and if you're solid and reliable, you'll always be in work.

Just a couple of ideas, but whatever you do, don't think you're stupid, don't think you're unemployable, switch your mindset and get your fire and determination back - you could surprise yourself and all those doubters just by not giving up!
    Well said paddy

    Oh dear god

you got a letter saying you have been sanctioned so what did you do about the letter???

the job centre manager is not the one who gives you the sanction!!
!!!!!!, I think it is very clear here that tact is needed and your posts are far from it. It might be easy for you and me but maybe not for the OP. Think it is pretty clear what we are possibly dealing with hear. AP you are always very constructive on MSE, think you have dropped the baton here mate.

job hunter, is there anyway you can type out word for word the letters they sent you recently saying you have been sanctioned? Just dont include your personal details
