Great thread although initially funny the coke issue does have a serious side; if we start accepting £2 as the norm for a glass of coke then where does one draw the line? It's a small issue connected to a larger issue. On another point I wouldn't bother about the Odyssey.
  • One example today I had in a busy shop, ques were very long but all tills were being operated - no problems thus far.

One member of staff just left and went on lunch without a replacement and prior to that the four members of staff were talking amongst themselves and not greeting the customer. All members of staff were casually dressed, some looked rather scruffy with heavy tatoos visible and not many greeted the customer or thanked them for their custom.

    Or maybe I'm just a whinge. ;)

What is a heavy tattoo? I thought they all weighed the same depending on the size of the person they are on :rotfl:

    Bankers!!!

I went into Bank of Ireland in Lurgan to draw cash out to buy a car - not a massive amount - £3,000 or something. "sorry the assistant manager is on a break at the minute, he wont be long". I genuinely thought at this point he'd nipped out, so i stood there for 15 mins. Turns out he had been having a coffee in the staff room and they didnt want to disturb him!!!!

Also, their staff simply must get their lunch breaks between 1:00 and 2:00 - probably the busiest time of the day for the bank - so if you go in at that time there is only 1 person on the tills. I've literally seen people queued out the door....

you can buy coke in Tesco Lurgan for 25p a can 18 per case £4.50
    profits elsewhere are massive excessive.

Where do you draw the line with that thinking though?

If you pay £2 in a bar for a coke, then you're paying indirectly for the running costs, the ambiance, the fact that you've made a concious decision to 'go out' and facilities and profit into what is a business.

If you pay a £1 from a vending machine, then you're paying that because of the convenience of the vending machine, the cost of it, etc, etc.

If you want a can of coke from your own fridge in your own home then yes, buy in bulk from Tescos.

If you were to apply that logic then ALL restaurants are massively excessive because you could buy the raw ingredients from tescos and make it yourself?

Well, there has to be some reason to convince people to go to Lurgan.

Yeah, and while we are at it lets start making the rich people pay for their own healthcare and not use the NHS - it's only fair because they can afford it and its wrong to ask the tax payer to pay.

They should also pay to send their kids to private school and not clog up the classrooms. Perhaps the rich pensioners should also not get their pension after all they don't need it and asking tax payers to pay their pensions is a total rip off :D
