What do you mean its 45 to supply and fit hard drive:footie:0

For the third time...what are the symptoms?
Even if they will replace the drive, where is the profit for the repairman? So they would be fitting a very cheap drive. Will it have a warranty? Will he also reinstall Windows and Drivers and Applications?
One or two of us here are sceptical....so what are the exact symptoms of your laptop problem?0 -
3 months warranty for the drive 45 pounds, plus 35 to reinstall everything. I couldnt log in at all.:footie:0

He wont be putting a new 500GB HDD (if I googled the spec correctly) in and recovering it to working order for £45.
At most he'll be doing a quick repair of the master boot record or similar which the OP should be able to do too if he answers the question put and follows subsequent instructions.0 -
Can you give us the answer to the following questions please:
Does the Laptop Start?
Do you get an error on screen?
If YES what is the exact error message?
Do you get to the Log in screen?
Will it let you Log in?
Once we have your reply we can HELP you otherwise we can't do much to save your data or money!Laters

vista machines were put out with 1gb and less memory, so the virtual cache was going permanently in overdrive. crazy stuff.
Now we're living in an age where 8gb of Ram is becoming standard in machines, there should be a lot less memory swapping.
Conversely, as they push more and more capacity onto the same size of drive, there's a bigger possibility of failure as the accuracy involved becomes greater.
who knows?0 -

I couldn't login can be caused by many things, exactly what comes on screen from the point of switch on!!
