    Hi waddlers, sorry had to bow out last night.
    Having similar problems today saving last copy as text.
    It is saving it again as a shortcut, no matter what I do.
    I,m using 2 sticks now, as original, is not being recognised in comp, but second is, Put frst from it to desktop, seems ok, BUT, cannot transfer new fixlist as text, even by doing it on MY own pc, putting it on new stick, it always saves it as shortcut, which cannot be found as text by frst on desktop?
    It was only luck last night I did it, don,t know why.as you know, it was saving as shortcut?
    When I copy new on infected, it auto sticks Shortcut icon on it.??
    Not having much luck so far today.keeping trying;;
    got them many frsts on pc, don,t know which is which, and keep changing fixlist to last one?
    Just I haven,t cross ifected mine, as I have updated 3 windows updates 5 times, and they are still showing in new updates????even though they are showing successfully done in log//, and a few glitches.Using stick with daughters back up on now????
    UPDATE;;No matter what I do on both pc,s it always saves as shortcut,under type, not text, even naming it just Fixlist, or Fixlist.Ttxt.
    On infected one, as soon as I copy, it sticks shortcut icon on??
    BUT, on mine, it doesn,t BUT, it saves it as shortcut. So stumped again waddler??? done it, loads of times , using both sticks, and even in search files, it says fixlist, only when I move it to desktop, or stick, it becomes a shortcut. don,t know what to do?
    can you clarify this;;
    when it says save, or save as, THe file name is fixlist, or fixlist.txt,Used both.
    under that is TYPE, which is text, which it is?
    goodness knows where shortcut isadded on mine, but on infect one, as soon as I take finger off click after copy, the icon is added, can actually see it, before copy????
    13th.

    Start again!

    In Windows Explore, Tools, Folder Options, View Tab, check if "Hide extensions for known file types" is ticked - if it is untick and Apply, OK

    1. Open Notepad.
    2. Copy the necessary text into Notepad.
    3. File Save As.
    4. Navigate to your flashdive (whatever the drive letter) and save the file.
    5. Use Windows Explore to navigate to this file on the Flashdrive, check that the full filename is correct and open the file to check that it contains the necessary text.

    How do you normally navigate to files that you have saved on your computer!

    Press the Flying Windows key and then E to invoke Windows Explore or right click the Start button then Explore.

    I,ve done that, which brings up start menu, but no tools etc Accessories etc?????
    On mine, I copy/paste and save;to notepad, then save by naming it whatever , in this case Fixfile.txt,
    Then, insert stick, which autoplays , click open, and see everything on it, which has text docs on now, then locate the file via search, then drag/drop, or copy/paste to stick, . Never come across this shortcut buisiness before, until now, Saved loads of text documents, no probs.
    On the pc file in search, it,s not got shortcut, only when I transfer it to stick, it comes up as shortcut under type??? BUT, it was saved as Text.??

    There are many ways to open Explore!

    1. Open the Start Menu.
    2. Click All Programs.
    3. Click Accessories.
    4. Windows Explorer.

    I really find it hard to believe that you have never used Explore before to find your saved files etc.

    never needed to, sounds a roundabout way of doing it.never used explorer all the years on pc.
    search is easier, to me :::I,m just a silver 70 year old, but, the R on explore and note book, make the world of difference to the likes of me;whether I get it right or wrong;
