Me and my boyfriend work very well together and I think it's because we're not too alike.
He's very laid back and I'm the opposite - which helps us meet in the middle. We also have our own hobbies, and give each other time with our separate friends.
Relationships are different though. My parents who have been together 35years+ say it's because my Dad works nights, so they don't see much of each other :-D I'd hate not seeing my boyfriend much though (not sure if the feeling is mutual ha)0 -
Great sex, laughter and kindness

22 years married
we are a team and we generally are headed in the same direction. Not always at the same pace and we don't always take the same route, but definitely the same direction. He makes me laugh and is a thoroughly decent man. I love being married to him and can't imagine being married to anyone else.
I don't sleep well when he isn't home. He is well named, because he really is my rock.I wanna be in the room where it happens0 -

I do not think there is any one answer.
What works for one person does not always work for another.
Respecting each other goes a long way in my book though.0 -
