DS was born on Boxing Day 2005 - a bit of a shock as he was due on January 28th 2006, so he was five weeks early. I actually went into labour early hours of Christmas Day so spent the whole of Christmas in hospital and missed out on DD's Christmas morning - she was two and a half so it was the first time she was really excited for Christmas. Although she loved the fact that she got a baby brother for Christmas!!! Didn't find it a problem keeping him warm - I had a lovely furry snow suit from Gap that I used to put him in in his sleep suit for the early morning jaunts to take DD to nursery. Like someone on here has already pointed out, it's easier to warm them up than cool them down.

DD was born at the end of April 2003 and far from missing the warm weather whilst pregnant, that month was (I think) the warmest April on record, and I baked for the last four weeks of pregnancy. That summer was also particularly hot, and me and DD spent many days lounging in the house, sweating, unable to go out because it was just tooooooo hot.

    Jxx
And it looks like we made it once again
Yes it looks like we made it to the end

Me again (sorry, but I'm liking this thread!):D

Is the school age intake different in England than it is here in Scotland??

Here the school age intake is from Mar 1st - Feb 28th......so the oldest kids are born in March.

But other posts have said they were the oldest, and were September babies....???
Yes it is the school intake year is Sept 1st-Aug 31st (England). What about leap year babies Feb 29th, are they the youngest or eldest of year in Scotland?

I am a September baby, so one of the eldest in the year. Funny someone saying they were held back a year as cut off date changed. This happened to me too in my first year at primary school, i was so upset that all my friends moved up a year and I had stay with a class of strangers, still remeber it now!
Being very nosey now but this has got me intrigued as I'd never heard of it before. How long ago was it?

February baby was difficult because it was so cold, by the time you dress them in hat and coat and gloves and blankets you don't feel like going anywhere. And getting up in the middle of the night, urgh, what a nightmare. Dark nights and dark mornings, more urgh. Whereas the other one was in May, a totally different story. Give me Spring any time!

Firstly, I didn't realise you could choose what time of year to have one!!! I certainly never even considered such a thought!
    My 5,
ds mid-January (10 days late- Aspergers-so Special Needs and Winter baby!)
    dd1 End-March (2 weeks late Grrr)
    dd2 Early May (On time!)
dd3 Boxing Day! (5 weeks early)
dd4 Early March (9 days early)

I have to say, I agree with the the poster who stated that it is much easier to keep a baby warm, than cool one down. I found babies born in the cooler months much easier. I do feel sorry for my little one, she's 3 and the older she gets the meaner I feel that her birthday is Boxing Day! Mind you mine is December 30th and it's always been fine.
To be honest it is much more comfortable being heavily pregnant in the winter. My most summer baby was May and that was bad enough!

Then different areas must have had different cut off dates, cos I left school in 1983. When I was in what is now called yr 4 my school had a split year class with youngest of yr 5 eldest of yr 4. (I was eldest of yr 4) and there were 2 girls 1 with 31st Aug birthday in yr 5 and the other 1st Sept birthday in yr 4, so a day between them and in 2 different years, so I know the Aug 31st cut-off date was in operation here. The year would be 75/76. This is in England btw (S. Yorks).

Hello! my niece was born on 20th december, two xmas's ago-and she's been fine! was a gorgeous xmas present for my sister! luckily she got home just in time for xmas day, and her hubby made xmas dinner as she had a c-section and needed to rest.

How the hell do people manage to get pregnant from their honeymoon? does that really happen in real life? not many people can plan it out that well, as you just have to let nature take its course! which means not always being sucessfull first try!

I didnt put myself under that kind of pressure, thank god.

    keely.

    How weird!!:D
My dd3 was born on Boxing Day 5 weeks early, and I spent most of Christmas Day in and out of hospital!!! It was horrid, as ds was 4, dd1 was 2.5 and dd3 was 19 months!!! She was 5lb3oz, but def. not ready to be born so spent 2 weeks in hospital. (Which was My birthday-30th, New years eve, and most of the rest of the school holiday! Ds was in reception!)
Nevermind, totally gorgeous now, and gives Boxing Day a real purpose!
