Both of mine were born in May. I think its best to carry though winter because your body temperature rises, I couldn't cope over summer. I remember getting into bed on christmas eve and putting the fan on because I was boiling hot.

I work in a secondary school and a few years ago noticed a pattern which I have informally researched.

Of the students on the Special Needs Register who have Statements or other interventions (School Action +) at my school by far the majority have summer birthdays. These are students who spend less time in reception and I have often wondered if this is really the cause. It is certainly the case with my own son (July - statement for literacy difficulties)

My daughters (Oct)(Nov) went to a selective school and all except two birthday parties they went to fell in the Autumn term, one in spring and one in summer. So for those school years most of the children who passes the 11+ were Autumn born.

I've just counted this years students
    Statement or SA+ = 73 students and 47 have summer birthdays!!

Just my own observations over 12 years in this job - don't want to worry anyone.
Doing voluntary work overseas for as long as it takes .......
My DD might make the odd post for me

Spending less time in Reception would depend on how the intake works in your LEA, in this area there is only one intake per year - September- which means that the younger children( ie Summer babies) spend the same amount of time as the older children (ie Autumn/Winter babies) in the Reception class.

my baby is a 16th of December baby :D shes suffered no ill from that date i have to say :) i think its a great date tbh as its not soo close to christmas for the 1 gift trick and we can have the "kids" party the weekend before it and the family one the weekend after :)

She was however due on Jan 8th so your right to expect him/her to arrive a little early or late.

Dont stress too much over dates, just enjoy it :)

I was an October baby - meant I was one of the oldest in the school year and passed my driving test before most of my friends :D

OH's birthday is 2nd January. Dunno how that worked when he was a child, but I know the presents were merged and he hated it (if he opened them at Xmas he had nothing on his birthday. if he waited till his birthday he felt left out at Xmas).

I make a big effort to keep them seperate (don't really do Xmas which makes life soooo much easier!). Planned a big bash for his 30th, but people wouldn't sign up cos 'they'd be skint after new year'

So I threw his 30th birthday party in June instead - he'd never had a BBQ for his birthday before!

Both mine are March babies. My wedding anniversary is June ;):p .

My OH was born 9 months and 1 day after his parents wedding day! He says that still gives him horrible thoughts now! Hehehe :rotfl:

Im an April baby and loved the fact that I didnt have to go to school on my birthday (1 year I did, my last! Grrr). But I didnt like the present situation. My relations (all ours live in southend) used to send £10 to each of my brothers and me. For them it was their easter present. For me it was my easter present and birthday present. Hated it! Always felt like I wasnt liked as much :(

    My birthday - Dec 5th
    Brother + step son - Dec 14th
    Mother - Dec 26th
FIL + DH - Dec 30th (their family never bought them birthday gifts  )
    DD - Jan 1st
    Eldest DS - Jan 3rd
    :D:D:D
A birth is such a special, miraculous event! It's unique to the individual and should *always* be celebrated (depending upon your beliefs, of course).
I've had children in Spring, Summer, Autumn and Winter. I can't really say that there were any differences of note  From a pregnancy point of view, having an August baby was the pits heatwise!

Partywise - my eldest two often found no one came to their parties (invites got lost among Christmas cards) so one year I held a joint "Official" birthday BBQ in the summer - it was great :D

DD is an october baby, i was soooo hot over the summer but it meant that i got christmas and easter off as maternity leave.
but when she's older she can have either a halloween party or fireworks party as she was born at the end of october.

my baby is due 9th september.. everyone has a comment to make on the whoel oldest in year debate - some think its great others not so great. im not fussed one bit when my baby arrives as long as she arrives safe and sound. im not sure of the cut off dtaes for schools around here but i have plenty of time to worry about that once she is here!
but i must say that the weather is only low 20s at moment and i dont like it one bit. im 27 weeks pregnant and feel sooooooooooo warm. not really uncomfortable just hot! saying that, i think it best to be this size in summer, when i can throw on a dress or something light rather than in winter having loads of layers on over my bump ?
my bday is july and i like it that way, cos i dont know it any other way!!!
OH is december and no1 comes out for his bday as its 29th and ppl are busy woith family or saving for new year, etc etc. also they "forget" to send cards and simply say well its xmas time. i always feel sorry for him

as fort he present thing, im 24 too and upto now i have got prezzies for xmas and bdays but probly from now on i wont as we have baby on the way. part of growing up i s'pose!

My daughter was born in september - not a good time I felt as if you get PND you have to survive the misery of winter. My son was born in July - a much better experience.
