what time of year to have a baby?

My baby is due on the 18th Dec, so if it's a week over (as I've been told the 1st often is) - I'll be giving birth on Xmas Day!!!!!!! Obviously not exactly pleased about it but if there's one thing I've learnt recently it is that you can't really plane anything in life!
I liked the comment on joint b'day pressie and if someone does it to us - we'll do it to them - GENIUS!!!
Both me and OH half are summer babies (July and May) and it's great so I hope baby isn't too peeved - But I will be trying every trick in the book to tempt baby out early!!! (any tips greatfully received!!).Proud to save:T0 -
what dates your birthday and whereabouts in the country are you? I'd always thought the cut-off date was 31st Aug, new school year Sept 1st.
my birthday is september the 8th and one of my friends was september 2nd and she was the year above at school.:j Baby bonce was born on Christmas morning after a ridiculously short labour and no pain relief! If only losing the baby weight was as easy!:T0 -

tbh, i find this offensive, and i don't think it is constructive in any way:j Baby bonce was born on Christmas morning after a ridiculously short labour and no pain relief! If only losing the baby weight was as easy!:T0 -
I actually meant the baby receiving a joint xmas and b'day present - not myself.
I think it would be nicer for the baby to be able to distinguish between it's b'day and xmas.Proud to save:T0 -
My DS was born on December 19th and we came home on xmas eve (actual due date 8th Dec) we always have a party for him (usually in the house for just family and friends so not too big a deal) and he has never had joint pressies and he will be 6 this year. I would be so upset for him if they did combine them.
This new baby (another boy) is due 24th July (but expecting it to be August) so will have experiences of both.
I loved having a baby at xmas, all cuddled up inside, cosy watching the horrible weather pass by, christmas tunes on the radio while i was in labour (very surreal!), wards all decorated in hospital. Was lovely and would jump at the chance to have another at xmas time.Bringing up 2 handsome boys and 1 gorgeous girl the MSE way!Joseph born 19th December 2001Matthew born 8th August 2007Tara born 23rd January 20110 -
I became pregnant in june and had my daughter in March !
Thought it was perfect .. and if I were to have another, would like it to be of a similar time !
I love it when people are being told to grow up. How is that better in any way? We're not talking be irresponsible or whatever, but your parents will treat you like their child until the day they die and it's good to let your hair down. God help me if I ever grew up. How else would I get my own way all the time?

My friends birthday is Xmas day, and she does get a lot of merged presents but on the plus side she always has the day off0

I am bit worried that it will be so cold that the baby will suffer compared to spring and summer
Don't know if anyone else has mentioned this as I have not read all posts, but it is a lot easier keeping a baby warm than cooling one down!
DS born in July, very hot day, he was hot & bothered & trying to cool his bedroom down was a nightmare. Now however it is great as his birthday is no where near Christmas so pressies are spread out & we can but summer stuff.

My two have Feb birthdays (7th & 8th). We live in Scotland and out admission cut off point is Feb28 so they will be one of the youngest in their class but unless they have two admissions per year this would happen nomatter when the cut off was.
As for being pregnant it was great, just morning sickness in the heat is bad but you can cover up your bump in winter woolies (leggings and jumpers) I didn't have to buy special maternity wear for going out (one nice outfit for christmas & new year).0 -
also that our tight relatives will only get smurf one set of presents (sounds unbeliveable, but my dad has already said smurf will get birthday presents instead of me from now on. I'm only 24! surely that's extremely mean in anyone's book)
I don't agree with the one present thing...that just isn't fair. My nephew is the 27th of Dec, and no-one would DARE only get him one present to do both celebrations. Why should a child lose out just because they are born at Xmas??
As for your second point....that I do agree with:D (Hey...it's a moneysaving site!):p
I am one of 4...2 of us have kids, 2 don't. The 2 of us with kids agree that people should buy for the children at b,days and Xmas, and not bother with us. The other 2 still get presents.
It doesn't bother me - usually people buy a small gift anyway, and I get a present from my Partner and kids......Cross Stitch Cafe member No. 32012 170-194 2013 195-207.Hello Kitty ballerina 208.AVA 209.OLIVIA 210.ELLA 211.CARLA 212.LOUISE 213.CHARLEY 214.Mother & Child 215.Stop Faffing Completed 2014 216.Stitchers Sampler. 217.Let Them Be Small 218.Keep Calm 219.
