You're not good at this debating business are you?
Well seeing as your'e new to this i'll explain.
The police would of no doubt said "you will have to push it". They aren't going to simply going to agree "he has no choice" but to ride it without a rear light are they. So no guessing really necessary.PLEASE NOTEMy advice should be used as guidance only. You should always obtain face to face professional advice before taking any action.0 -
if i did get pulled over, i would have hoped they would be reasonable about it. Afterall, they dont arrest drivers for every little thing they do.
or maybe i should have jsut been thrown into jail because i was a victim of theft, would that make you happier?
Dunno why your getting all peed off and personal about... obviously they would not of allowed you to ride it on a road without lights so they would of told you to push it or make some other arrangements.PLEASE NOTEMy advice should be used as guidance only. Out of curiosity, how would him pushing the thing help?
A couple of times when I've been caught out by nights drawing in, I've been faced with two options:
1) Continuing to ride.
2) Getting off and pushing. Being just as invisible as I am when riding, but on the road for much longer, with far more cars having to spot me, with it getting darker all the time.
To be honest, I've always done number one as it seems the safer thing to do.
Of course, if there were footpaths to use or even verges, it would be a different story...0 -

Or do you really think that a couple of articles about light-less cyclists being killed will do the trick?
Read post #40. I think that at least that particular contribution has made the thread "useful".
As for what should be done about it... well apart from the obvious (more penalties given out, offending bikes being confiscated, parents making sure that their kids don't ride at night without lights etc), I don't know.
But one thing is for certain, the potential implications of cyclists riding without lights at night, are pretty serious for both cyclist and motorist alike.PLEASE NOTEMy advice should be used as guidance only. You should always obtain face to face professional advice before taking any action.0 -

but why not, they allow motorists to carry on driving.
if you're lights are broken on your car, will the police say you have to push it back ?
or wil they allow you to drive back as long as you get it sorted
i still stand by the fact i had no other option, walking 10 miles after a long day of work on my feet is not an option.
maybe im getting peed off due to attitude i get from alot of drivers on the road0 -
The type of cyclists and go out at night with no lights or missing reflectors and dark clothes are usually the ones that don't drive as well. It shows because they're totally ignorant to the danger they're in.
I cycle and drive. I only cycle when it's daylight as i have no reflectors on my bike. Even with reflectors and lights i hated cycling at night on anything more than a 30mph limit road with street lightsAll your base are belong to us.0
