Cyclists still not getting the message

Because unlike motorists, the police don't seem to be clamping down on cyclists so it seems they need to 'police' themselves.
They dont seem to be clamping down on motorists either.
besides, motorists pose the greater danger, so it would make sense to use the limited resources and focus on them0 -
A lot of cyclists without lights near me - i live near a station and it seems that because that part of the journey from the train to home is just a small segment, that it doesn't really count? Maybe carting lights about is also inconvenient - but worst-case-scenario should be what guard against.0

I'm not sure the police are clamping down on anyone TBH
Last weekend I rode from Dover to just south of Durham and never saw a single police car.0 -

You might find the motivation (or demotivation) is theft, when you leave a bike, everything removable is a target for theft.“I may not agree with you, but I will defend to the death your right to make an a** of yourself.”

I really don't see the point of threads like this. If you wanted to do something useful and help him get the message you could always have told him that you nearly hit him, and he might even have been grateful - maybe he hadn't realised that his light had stopped working. Or you could go on the internet instead and rant at strangers, most of whom already seem to know that it's not a good idea to ride in the dark without lights.0

thats one reason i've ridden my bike without lights before.
one day i forgot to take all the lights of my bike and when i went to ride home, i had no lights to use, i didn't really have any other choice0 -
