I have a dropbox account with 58GB of FREE space

Auto uploads all my photos and videos off my iPhone

I have a dropbox account already but don't want to flood it with photos as I use it for sharing important data and files across devices.

I was hoping to utilise my currently unused iCloud account but can't see a way of easily uploading photos to it (found a link which explains how to upload from a Mac but that's not what I want).

Btw, how did you manage to get 58GB allowance?

  • Whatever you do, stay away from GoogleDrive.

Whats wrong with Google Drive? I've been using it for ages and haven't had any issues! :)

Anyone know how (if possible) to send existing photos/videos to iCloud? Just switched on the setting on my iPhone but it only backs up new/future photos.

Desperately need to free up space to install iOS7 and associated updates (currently numbered at 93  )

I've personally found iCloud too restrictive (typical Apple!).
So I use Barracuda's Copy free iphone app to backup my iphone photos & videos, you'll get 20GB free storage using the link above, and it's very easy to sync individual photos/videos or complete folders to the cloud.
You can then access or securely share them, using a PC/ipad/mac/linux or whatever!

I have downloaded copy.com and got 20Gb of free storage, created a "copy" folder and the contents have automatically uploaded to my cloud storage area. So far so good.

But how does it update any files I have been working on. Surely I don't have to to copy any altered files to the "copy" folder and delete the existing file or am I missing something completely here.

I am currently using IDrive purely for scheduled back-ups and SugarSync for syncing between various computers. Neither require a seperate "dropbox" but simply upload the amended file alterations without any intervention on my part.

Hi, copy.com will automatically check, and if the file has changed, then it will sync the 'changed' file to the cloud. Furthermore, it will also automatically save your 'older' version of the file, so that you can rollback if you make any mistakes.

All this takes place automatically without any intervention from you.

    Clever stuff eh?

    Hi Paul,

Sounds terrific but I must be doing something wrong as my set-up doesn't do that.

I have just modified a document in Word and also added a document within a folder which is one of those marked for back-up.

Neither show as a modification/addition in either the "copy" folder or on the website so for some reason it doesn't appear to be syncing.

Are you using the Windows copy desktop application?
    If so you need to ensure that one of the following applies;
    1) That the files which you are wanting to keep in sync, are contained within your designated copy folder. OR
    2) That you have added shortcuts to other folders in your copy folder - see help article. This is how I use copy, and which I've found works very well. Basically, right-click on (for example) your 'Documents' and 'create a shortcut'. If you then drop that shortcut into your copy folder, it will follow the link and sync your 'Documents' folder to the cloud.
Also, are you using the latest version of the app (I think that it was updated about a week ago??)

    Hope this helps.

I've successfully backed up photos from iPhone to Copy but found to frustrating to have to do them individually (5000+). Is there any way to upload batch copies? I've also not found a way to automatically back up any new photos I take.
