    Well, I created an account with Copy and I received an extra 5gb " from Paul". - Thanks Paul- LOL. However, can anyone answer this? I first installed it on my Mac, then on myiPad. When I opened Copy on Ipad, all my picture folders from Mac were there, but they are empty. The folders all have the correct titles (ie, Wedding, Greece holiday etc) just no photos in them. Do I have to do anything to download the photos? Also, on Ipad, when I click upload , it opens my photo app, but I have to tick individual photos to upload. Can't find anywhere thats says " select all". Am I missing something, or do I really have to sit and do them all individually?

    For anyone following this thread its worth noting that the standard Google drive limit has been increased (its actually amalgamated different parts from drive/docs etc) from 5gb to 15gb per email address and its a great service.
    Just click the 'Drive' button at the top when logged into your Google account.

    Kathryn, the guides on copy's website are not that friendly, but the way that I've got my system set up is;

    1) Installed the Windows app onto my laptop and created a 'copy' folder (it will be the same for Mac).
    2) Created shortcuts (aliases on a Mac) for each of the folders on my laptop that I want to sync to 'the cloud', the folders can be any size you want, and could be your entire collection.
    3) Drag those shortcuts (aliases) into the copy folder.

    Now, copy will sync the contents of the shortcut's folders to the cloud automatically.

    But a word of warning... 'copy' syncs data, not copies it, so if you delete it from the cloud - it deletes it from your laptop (I should have known - but I learnt the hard way!!).

    My advice would be to probably start with a test folder that you will not loose sleep over if it gets deleted, and follow the steps above. As you gain confidence then start adding the folders which are important to you.

    Paul

    Thanks for that useful information Paul. And I mean useful because a penny has just dropped. The reason I wanted more storage was because my Dropbox is full. I don't store documents in the cloud so it was entirely photos. There was a lot of photos that were not that important so I deleted them thinking it would free up some space. But next time I checked, Dropbox was still full. I couldn't understand it, thought I hadn't deleted them correctly. Now I know why, Cloud storage just syncs with my computer. I would have to manage what I want storing otherwise it will just keep on syncing everything. Ain't MSE great?

  • For information to all, I see that copy have now upgraded their free software apps, which has resolved many of the issues we were experiencing a couple of months ago. So if you are still using the original apps, check for the updates.

    You could always do the old trick of signing up for multiple dropbox accounts too. Or multiple copy.com accounts. or mutiple gmail accounts etc.

    Just keep good notes on them all for access details and get a calender reminder to log into them every now & again.
  • Sugarsync allows you to sync any folder to any folder, you don't have to put everything in one place like Dropbox.

    Whatever you do, stay away from GoogleDrive.

    Anyone know how (if possible) to send existing photos/videos to iCloud? Just switched on the setting on my iPhone but it only backs up new/future photos.

    Desperately need to free up space to install iOS7 and associated updates (currently numbered at 93 :eek: )
