well done on the house savings - you will soon be at the 10k mark i am sure. Annoying about the laptop. Hope you find a good repacement one. Mine is on its last legs but hope it keeps going just a little longer.

Enjoy the rest of your half term :)

  • Hi DFW.

Great news about the policy and the savings pot is looking pretty fab too.

Sorry have no idea about the laptop, i'm not techie at all.

Hope DS is feeling a bit brighter.

    Take care .x.
  • Morning!

I've had a nightmare getting on my laptop today as battery was refusing to charge ! the new laptop is packaged back up and i've contacted y0del to collect it. I will wait for that to go before ordering a new one. The nearest we can find to the specs on the one we are sending back is around £400  no wonder DH was insisting we buy buy buy before thinking about it :rotfl:, shame that with an English plug and keyboard it pushes the price up by £150  not good hey. I think our budget will be around the £350 mark now for a replacement which is £100 more so I'll have to take it from the policy money :(.

I have done the banking this morning, another DD has gone out. Only 2 more left for this month I think, am hoping the v1rgin bill comes in under my estimate so I can transfer any remaining money in the DD account to the emergency fund to help top it back up. £1 was taken out of my account for DH's new ISA so I take it that it has been set up and is open :T, I just need the paperwork with account numbers so I can transfer what I have ready to go in there...the quicker it leaves my low paying, easy access saver the better  I get twitchy seeing that amount of money within easy reach and am imagining all the nice things I could be buying :o..... oh deary me!

I've done March's spreadsheets, we're still £200+ down on DH's wages and £450+ down on rental income :(. The letting agents are useless. I may have to threaten to go elsewhere and pay what I owe them for the works they've done on the house thus far, they really aren't trying very hard in my opinion to get my house let. DH can't get his wages put back up until the weather improves and he can do his top up course for work so we're just going to have to make do and think positively that this is just a blip that will be resolved in our favour, eventually...

I've downloaded lots of old films for the kids to watch as ds2 is too sick to take out anywhere. I was hoping to take a trip to the cinema but will have to see how he feels as the week goes on.

Hope everyone is well will try and catch up with diaries today now the laptop is finally on :)

  • I've sent off an email asking what's going on with rental house as i'm not impressed so far with their 'top service'

Got the post, DH needs to sign a form for the ISA and they will open it up. I got a speeding fine :( for some reason I thought the road was 60mph (on the m25) but it was 50 and i was clocked doing 62 :( DH has to post it back saying it was me as it's in his name. So not sure on fine as it doesn't say but assuming 3 points and £60. Boooooooo. My fault I should have been paying more attention. Will try not to dwell on it, it's things like this that ruin my mood for the entire day :wall:

Also received an MSE first time buyers mortgage guide for this year for DH, although I will probably have to read through it for him as he will put it to one side and forget about it otherwise!

  • Ds2 has been dozing on and off all day poor little thing. I made pitta pizzas and a huge healthy salad with sides of eggs and corn on the cob but he only had a handful of carrots and cucumber. DH is still at work and I'm waiting on someone to collect something I sold, only £3 but it will help I'm sure.

I watched the secret earlier on dvd. I've been meaning to read the book but it was too expensive :o my meditation teacher let me borrow this for a donation to charity instead ;) so win win. Anyway it's about the law of universal attraction and I'm going to try it, firstly I need to work out exactly what I want and then visualise myself as already having it and giving gratitude for having it. You have to imagine how you would feel if it came true (happy/elated etc) and be positive about thinking you deserve it etc. If it works great! If not it will have me watching my thoughts for any negativity and changing it to a positive anyway so I can't see how I can lose really ;)

My friend at work has been going on about "the secret" she has just finished reading the book, is it similar to the concept of cosmic ordering. Think this is that you have to ask the universe for what you want with positive thoughts, this is what noel Edmunds is supposed to be in too (don't let that put you off). Anyway since my friend has read this book she does seem to be more positive and happy, may give it a go.

Hope your Ds starts feeling better soon.x

Yes same idea I think :)

I read the book Noel Edmonds wrote/ endorsed? But a long time ago now and can't remember where I put my copy?! Definitely give it a go. We'll have a race to see who wins the lotto first :rotfl:
