  • Morning!

Well I'm exhausted I had lucid dreams all night and then when I finally got some proper sleep this morning I had a nightmare about a zombie apocalypse :rotfl: Oh dear! I gave up in the end but i'm so tired now

I've been on Ynab this morning and the child benefit has moved it's way to available balances itself so that's good i'm still unsure if I will actually make it through the month ok and be able to put money away though.....this month seems like it has gone on forever already!

I had an appointment this morning with HS and now i'm free all day :T I intend on doing nothing whatsoever! Aside from maybe, a nap :D

The Black car has fallen through, we were offered a loan which in itself is good meaning our credit must be improving :T but I wasn't falling for the rate it was offered at! So no thanks and back to the drawing board! DH is going to take in our red car and see if we can fix the problems that need doing on it for the money we have. I have thought about it and although a newer car would be lovely I am loathe to get myself & dh into debt again for a big lump of metal! ;)

    So spends today so far:
    £30 on petrol
£6 in c00p on yellow stickered items & chocolate :o

Money I should have coming in before end of month:
    £418 rent
    £47.60 child benefit next week
    £49 cheque from school (pending)
£200 cheque from car (not even showing yet!)
    £45 expenses

    Projected spends:
    £100 food
    £70 Petrol
£85 spending money (i've left this as a float in case I need money for more petrol to see dad/spends that I have forgotten as i've lost the spreadsheets)
    £150 new house fund
    £200 car insurance fund
£90 DD's still to go out
£30 Pending to go out on PP payments for dog's special shampoo/flea & worm treatments

So in theory I should have enough money as I have some money still put aside for bills....here's hoping I can stick to budget and put that money into savings! :)

    Hi DFw, :hello:

Wow you are so organised! :T
    What is YNAB?

Reckon you did the right thing, cutting losses with the lemon-car.
Keeping fingers crossed that red car's problems are just wheel-bearings..

Re dog. Might be worth prodding R$PCA - they've already admitted irregularities in that placement. Remind them a home check still hasn't been done, and concern for the animal's welfare is ongoing (mention the injury - it takes quite a lot to break an adult dog's leg!).

Hope you have a good week this week. :)

Robin YNAB is a budgeting tool, it has ready made spreadsheets and online help and support, I had a go of it before but tbh it wasn't much different to the spreadsheets i'd adapted myself from free ones online. They are no longer available though so I didn't really know what to do so i've decided to try YNAB again as it was quite similar! I'm not very logically minded though as you may have guessed :o and was struggling with the slight difference that you put money in as it comes, rather than all at the beginning of the month as I used to do!

As for dog :( I just want to take it home with me, even though i'm 1) allergic and 2) it was the whole cause of my upset over the last few months  I really really feel so sorry for it. It's limping, it spends over 12 hours a day laid on the lawn looking forlorn and depressed. My friend who lives locally has indeed put in another complaint. I didn't ask her to do it though and she told me afterwards, that made me feel anxious and nervous too as i know I will get the blame for it. Seems i'm not the only one who's heard the howling, and spotted the dog outside all day (quite easy I guess with the rubbish fencing we have all round the garden! You can still see through bamboo!)

I'm really not bothered about the car and in fact feel relieved. DH it seems was quite keen and has moped around telling me how he works his a$$ off for nothing. Oh dear  I'm ignoring it and have several times suggested we just clear the savings out and when the time comes we can live in the car instead of buying a house?! It's not really appeasing him much though :rotfl::D

  • Well i've spent all morning looking for a kettle. Ours has been on it's way out for months but I keep putting off buying one because I'm too tight to pay out for a new one :p This morning it wouldn't switch on at all  I finally got it working again but it's making loud clunking noises so I'm looking for another one and can't find one!!!! Well actually I can find one but none that really grab me for a good price. Booooo. I fancied a coloured one but after reading reviews the paint seems to peel after a while so now I am stuck. Might take ds2 to currys after dropping dd at Rainbows this evening and have a look. Much easier when you can see them in person!

The neighbour has been extremely loud and shouty over the last few days, DH thinks she may have had a telling off (like I had many times over for doing nothing!) and so is not too happy. We both walked past her this morning on the way back from the school run, her nose was firmly in the air :rotfl: and we just looked the other way! It's beginning to get quite funny the more ridiculous it gets :rotfl:

    Hi DFW,

Just caught up with your diary. I can't beleive you have 7/8 accounts:rotfl:
That must be so confusing. I work out of the 1 account and it is great. Think I would get in a terrible muddle otherwise. Different strokes for different folks i suppose ;).

Fingers crossed your red car is cheap to sort out. Would'nt like the idea of more debt for a car :(.

That poor dog, hope things get sorted for it soon .

Kettles can be so expensive. I bought a cheapy Ebay whistling kettle and use it on the hob. Much nicer than an electric one. Good luck with your hunt xxxx
  • Hope you found a kettle.

    Poor dog :(.

Sure I've said it before, but may neighbours next turd be a hedgehog Xx

  • Evening!

I've had a busy day, I got a new kettle & toaster & some new canisters for tea/sugar/coffee as the old ones didn't match :o I owe the credit card £100 now  Also bought a new water filter with that though so I think overall I got a good deal :T

I bought the kids some crazy loom things today and we've sat here for an hour now trying to work it out  I thought it would be easy! It's a bunch of tiny elastic bands that you're supposed to wrap around your fingers (a bit like crocheting or knitting) and make bracelets from them! DS2 who is 4 knew more than me :rotfl:

I have a meditation group in the morning but nothing else on for tomorrow so I will try and reconcile the banks and budgets properly! £200 cheque has cleared today so I moved £150 straight to car account and I hope to have enough to pay the insurance for the year then. I will do some quotes later perhaps and see how much it's coming in at for the next year so I know what to expect!

Steph I find having 7 accounts easier than one :rotfl: Once the money is in that account I can't get to it and each account is named so when I log on I can see which one it is I.e "car account" and how much is in there. I really struggled when I had only one account as i'd see money in there which was savings but i'd forget it was allocated and then spend it :o Kettle was £29.99 :T and pretty one rather than the usual white plastic cheap one I go for which then always breaks!

Lucky I agree :rotfl: 'nuff said :rotfl:

We have loom bands all over the house and DD's arm is full of bracelets. Her tips are to use 2 pencils rather than fingers as it stops cutting the circulation off in them lol. It really is easy when you get going though :)

  • Thanks for the tip on the loom thing lol, we're currently using a fork but the middle prong gets in the way! No news on the neighbours I've asked DH to ring someone and find out before he goes away ! This morning was rather amusing as my friend and I walk back from school together and usually stop to finish our chat on the corner where we part, we've always done it and no one else tends to use that spot so suits us. This morning NN was stood there chatting to one of her friends :rotfl: had to laugh really she was clearly trying to get a rise from me but I was in a rush anyway so didn't have time to stand and chat today ;) Wonder if she will make it a regular thing though??? She's tried to bump into me several times this week but i've avoided at all costs any sort of interaction with her! I wish she would grow up and move on!

Had a meditation group today was nice and relaxing as usual and I have another one tomorrow :) I've updated ynab and also moved all the interest from my accounts to the emergency funds (they are all due on same day so nice and easy).

One bit of good news, I have just done some car insurance comparisons and the cheapest I could find was £264 and the most expensive was £1195 :eek: I will go for one of the ones just over £300 so that means I have enough saved already :T so don't need to find the extra £50 I was thinking I might need :j (have £350 put aside for this) any extra will stay in the pot to go towards the MOT & tax both due in next few months.

Off to make dinner now as have 3 hungry kids
