It is very important that anyone who has received an invitation for such is aware of this fact. There are no advantages in trying to explain the situation, particularly if there is a possibility that you could be found guilty. The questions in the interview are worded in such a way that even when you confirm what appears to be trivial and obvious facts you are actually adding to the weight of evidence against you. I am going to disclose that I have written an on line publication on this subject. I believe that it will help anyone who is being investigated for benefit fraud, if only to avoid making the catastrophic mistakes that I made: Everything from messing up the interview to choosing the wrong solicitor. I truly could not have got it more wrong. Link: benefitfraud.net.

The interview is your opportunity to give your explaination. If you don't attend then the case can go to court without an interview. If they are inviting you to an interview they do have reason to believe you have committed an offence.
If you are in any doubt at all, take proper legal advice prior to attending any interview.0 -
I have an interview under caution next week. I called to see what it was in relation to and I'm being accused of having my ex husband (never been married) live with me. The father of my children regularly visits here my eldest is really struggling with school and his presence is really doing her well. He has always given the children money for shoes books dance class etc but I didn't know this would be a problem all bills are in my name it's my HA tenancy everything in my name. He lives in a camper van quite often by his nans but sometimes in his work lorry he will sleep. He doesn't use my home for showers or food and he's made it perfectly clear he doesn't want to be with me (I had thought perhaps he wasn't straight) But we have obviously been to places together like school meetings and meeting with football managers watching games my son plays in he did a great job decorating the girls bedroom but we obviously went to diy store together buying items needed would photos like these be proof were living as a couple he's a great father just wasn't a great partner or maybe I wasn't.
I am worried sick about this interview and waiting nearly 2 weeks for the date is making me loose sleep I work part time and it's affecting my work. If they've been watching for years they'd have enough info to say he did live here as he came and went.0 -

1: Start your own thread
2: You don't get an interview under caution for an ex visiting you. So you may as well be honest.0 -
It is more likely that there is something registered to your address with his name. Car insurance, bank account, mobile phone etc Even if it is paperless and you don't receive the actual bill.
Going to the DIY store would not trigger this sort of investigation.
You will probably get more responses if you start a new thread though0 -

What address does he use for mail - if it's yours, that would trigger an investigation.0 -
I've only ever had one non debt letter and that was a new drivers license he promised it wouldn't happen again and he would change it to his nans this was about 5/6 months ago. We had a argos card when we were together (parted ways 2012) I kept this and make monthly repayments as I use it for back up items I can't get credit. I have never in my life felt so anxious, quite possibly the scariest situation I've been in.0

2: As I said, you don't get interviewed under caution for no reason. Give more information.0 -
I hadn't realised it wasn't a new thread very sorry.0
