Yes I have deleted my posts. I came here for advice on the situation I'm in...not to be assumed guilty by people that don't even know me, and basically told how suspicious I look. How is that helpful to me?
I explained this big mess as honestly as I can, and came here for help from people that know the laws and procedures better than I do. Not to be told that yeah I look really guilty and I'm full of excuses and to expect to have to fight for my freedom.
All some of the posts this morning have done is worry me even more and I don't need that right now.
So I'll deal with it on my own. But thank you so much to the lovely ones of you that have left me constructive advice and comments. You have helped me no end0 -

I can understand your feelings, having read some of today's posts.
Let us know how you get on.0 -
Mumof1littlegirl I hope you are ok.
I just wanted to let you know that a friend of mine had a very similar issue... her ex was an disorganised so and so and didn't change a load of his details over so it looked on paper that they were still living together. She had an interview they tried to get her to admit guilt but there was no guilt, he didn't live there. She did not hear from them again and it wasn't a problem in future because his address was updated.
Have a cuppa and chill (easier said than done)
Sometimes the innocent feel guilty it doesn't mean they are guilty0 -
Have some posts been deleted- I can't see any attacks.0

But why are you so anxious? You now know you haven't been reported and all what was brought up was more about your ex being possibly in trouble rather than yourself, so surely you should feel relieved and happy to let him get on to sort out his issues.0 -
If you are innocent then you have nothing to worry about.
If you have told the truth then you have nothing to worry about.
You only have to fear being prosecuted and possibly jailed if your former partner is actually living with you full time and you are still a couple.
If he isn't why are you worrying? These are my own views and you should seek advice from your local Benefits Department or CAB.0 -
I can see why OP is worried, when there are people on the thread saying she is guilty whether or not she actually is and is possibly going to prison.
Sure everything will be fine OP. I know it's useless to say try not to worry. I also understand the need to work with the ex to sort it out by ringing people etc... He is your child's father after all and there was obviously feelings between you once.
Despite him being a royal PITA and not in love with him anymore I would still support my ex in times of need as much as possible.0 -

It isn't always as simple as that. I was once reported for unlawfully claiming the single person discount when a man was living with me. The report was anonymous but the man named was my brother - who has his own house elsewhere and was staying with me because I had just come out of hospital. He was only here two weeks, so someone was quick off the mark. The letter arrived on a Saturday and I worried about it all weekend. In fact the matter was very quickly cleared up on the Monday with a phone call followed by a letter. But I remember the sick feeling in my stomach and the sleepless nights that weekend despite the fact that I knew very well I'd done nothing wrong and could prove it - and I wasn't even called in for an interview under caution!
People worry when the authorities make allegations no matter how innocent they are.I'm a retired employment solicitor. Hopefully some of my comments might be useful, but they are only my opinion and not intended as legal advice.0 -
Housing Benefit Officer...have you not read anything I have typed the last few days? Why do you keep asking why I'm worried?
Coz I have no proof or evidence in my defence! On paper it looks like he's living here. I have no proof of another address for him. Therefore everything points to me being guilty, and it's only my word. And lets think whether they are going to believe me?
So why am I so worried if I'm innocent? You're right! I've got absolutely nothing to worry about. I'm an honest person and the dwp are bound to believe me and take my word for it, as they are so understanding about people's situations.
Infact, I'm sure a letter of apology is winging its way to me as I type.
And as I have absolutely nothing to worry about, I will make this my final word on this thread. It doesn't even need discussing anymore.0 -
