I will give you the tracking number and they will be posted special delivery so they should arrive Thrus before 1pm."
I emailed back and said: "Hiya, Thank you for the update. Please can you let me have the tracking number as soon as possible tomorrow
Your reply really should have been "I am on my way now. See you in 30 Mins to pick them up"
Not please send tracking details......Never ASSUME anything its makes a>>> A55 of U & ME <<<0 -
Have you now been provided with the tracking details. She told you on Sunday that they were ready for dispatch - she knew you were anxious and upset -she should have gone straight to PO on Monday morning and sent them special delivery to arrive today. I am not sure why - with next day delivery, you have to wait until Wednesday or Thursday. I would be going round to her house to collect these or to get my money back.0

Evening all!
Sorry I didn't get a chance to pop back earlier, today was full of meetings
As of 2pm today I have had a tracking number and it's valid so the goods should be delivered tomorrow. I'll let you know what they're like, I'm now going to be worried the standard won't be up to it but at least we'll have something!
Now I realise I shouldn't have paid it all up-front, hindsight is a wonderful thing and it's taught me a lesson.
I also completely agree with Country Cousin, she knew how anxious I was, if it were the other way around I would have been at the post office first thing on Monday morning to post the dresses. Of course, I wouldn't be as rubbish in the first place but that's another story.
So, tomorrow we will hopefully have the conclusion to the short and nearly naked story and I really hope it's a happy ending or else I'll be trawling round trying to find new dresses.
Thanks everyone for the advice and giving me a sanity check, I was worried I was being too demanding!0 -
Hope you get two complete dresses tomorrow that fit!Should've = Should HAVE (not 'of')
Would've = Would HAVE (not 'of')
No, I am not perfect, but yes I do judge people on their use of basic English language. If you didn't know the above, then learn it! (If English is your second language, then you are forgiven!)0 -
Good luck - hope they are as you want them to be tomorrow. Please let us know x0

So there's good news and bad news..
The good news is the dresses have arrived
The bad news is they're a pile of poo
They arrived with my sister this morning and she's gone through point by point listing the issues.
I'm guessing my first step is to let the seamstress know that we are unhappy with her work, however, after that I don't know what to do so any advice again would be gratefully received.
I think my mum could probably get both dresses in to a reasonable state but she shouldn't have to and my sister is currently looking at places we can order dresses for next day delivery. There certainly isn't time for the dresses to be sent back to be fixed.
These are the points that we've picked up on:
1. Took 11 weeks and lots of chasing to get the dresses, not the 4-6 weeks as quoted.
2. Different lace flowers on the dresses,M's dress has 3 flowers and is approx 1cm away from the sleve seam but K's dress has 2 flowers and it overlaps the sleeve seam by approx 1cm. Applique on both has also been badly trimmed.
3. Both dresses are very badly hemmed, you can see every stitch, in a few places the material has been caught and pulled and the hems are uneven.
4. On K's dress there are marks from where the material was on the roll leaving it almost stripy, meaning the material/dress hasn't even been pressed.
5. On K's dress the zip has been put in very badly. It's not straight and there are threads hanging.
6. On K's dress the seam joining the top part to the skirt does not meet the zip at the same height, approx 1cm apart.
7. Both dress fronts are different. M's dress has 3 pleats and K's dress has 2.
8. On K's dress on the sleeve, the seam of the cuff is not in line with the sleeve seam and is approx 1/2cm apart
9. It's obvious that the dresses were made by two different people. K's dress is of a much poorer quality, being the one with the badly done lace flower, seams, zip etc.
10. They were ordered as Bridesmaids dresses which were supposed to be matching dresses. The dresses that were delivered are far from matching and look completely different.
So what should we do now (after a large gin and tonic)?0 -
I'd definitely be pursuing a refund (entire or partial) if I were you, but wouldn't know the relevant consumer law to back you up. I'm sure someone more knowledgeable will be along shortly - but I couldn't read and run, and just wanted to say I am so sorry this has happened to you
Hope you manage to sort it

Thank you, I am so angry on my sister's behalf.
I've just had her on the phone crying her eyes out and I can't do much to make it better, I'm just writing an initial email to the seamstress to let her know how unhappy we are and we'll see what happens.
I am so impressed with my sister, aside from the tears just now she's not gone bridezilla or anything.. if this were my wedding you'd be able to see the flames from wherever you were in the country!0 -
Sorry to hear about the dresses.
Maybe if you post details here of your sister's colour scheme, people could help you find alternative dresses online for you to order.Thrifty Till 50 Then Spend Till the End
You can please some of the people some of the time, all of the people some of the time, some of the people all of the time but you can never please all of the people all of the time0 -
have you checked https://www.google.co.uk/#q=brides+forum+uk and post the details on specific bride forums, so you warn other brides and you might get some quick help0
