  • Loved reading your update - smiled massively.

Well done Alex, and I agree with everyone else, you seem like a wonderful chap that is far too hard on themselves!

Please keep writing, else you will make us all :(
    • [STRIKE]Credit Card: £2,989 / £2,989[/STRIKE]
    • Bank Loan: £12,000 / £14,000
  • Well done. You did it all yourself ! And proved you could.

Definitely keep writing. Something positive maybe? I like the suggestion about a money saving or money making challenge.

    but very well done.

Sorry I didn't get a chance to properly say thank you for all your messages yesterday.

    YAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAY!!

    :beer::j:T

    Well done you!

    HBS x

Thanks, HBS. I still can't quite believe the final cheque has been sent and likely received today. :)

well done. Youve been on a journey of many ups, downs, positives negatives, yet all through it you maintained dignity, hope and a kind heart.

You have turned a corner on more than one front, to be honest you've exceeded on more fronts than maybe you know.

Keep writing even if its a weekly update on how life is going, whats happening.

    You take care xxx

    Thank you, mum2one.

Not sure about exceeding but writing on here has certainly been an eye-opener for me. Both in very positive ways and some not so.

I'm definitely going to carry on writing, not sure whether in here or in mortgage free though I will post a link if I "move".

Dont stop posting, Yours is one of the diaries I actually go looking for ! :)

    Thank you Mara. :)

I like the fact you say it as it is even if we've disagreed about some things, certainly given plenty for me to think about though.

I am cheering here Alex, well done and please do keep posting. MFW is full of people like me trying to be savvy but often doing something mad, you would fit right in!

    Thank you. :)

I do contribute to a couple of MFW diaries, some very scarily switched on individuals in there though and they all seem to like spreadsheets.

Another vote here for you keeping up with your writing.

And another congratulations on sorting out your debts!:T

I think writing a diary about your progress towards your next set of goals would be great and help to keep you on track.:)

    It could be a money saving/making diary. Now that's a novel idea!:rotfl:

    That's a great idea, thank you. :)

On the subject of goals, I ought to start working towards some of them now, I suppose.

I haven't posted here for ages, but have kept popping in and cheering you on via the ether. You have done so well, in spite on your self-doubt I have always thought that you are a good guy.

Well done, please do not stop posting, lots and lots of people stick around here when they are debt free as a means of keeping them focused and to continue interact with all the friends and supporters that they have met along the way:)

    Thank you, Maddiemay. :)

Unfortunately, my self esteem is almost non existent and whilst I know the past cannot be changed I still dwell on things I did many years ago. Only today, my cousin who I see as she has horses and my son likes to visit told me to tell her five things I like about myself and I couldn't come up with one. It means a lot that others seem to think I'm not terribly bad.

Focusing on remaining debt free and living within my means (perhaps less so I can make a few £££s) is certainly my aim from now forwards.

Don't you dare stop posting. We wouldn't be able to support you through the scary idea of saving, and pen selling to pay off mortgage/house work, if you did!!!!!!
Good luck with this new journey

:rotfl: Looks like I have orders from the PA. ;)

    Seriously, thanks.
Right, did someone order an 1812 Overture and fireworks?

So we need a few of these nopityA.gifnopityA.gifnopityA.gifnopityA.gif , joined by some of these bing.gifbing.gifbing.gif, not forgetting one of these choir3.gif - then in comes the brass section trompette.giftrompette.giftrompette.gif and here we go....

    Ba-de-da-de-da-de-da-dee-da-daaaaaa
    Ba-de-da-de-da-de-da-dee-da-daaaaaa
    Ba-de-da-de-da-de-da-de-da-de-da-deeeeeeeee
    Ba-de-da-de-da-de-da-de-da-de-da-deeeeeeeee

Ba-de-da-de-da-de-da-dee-da-daaaaaa (baaaaa-deeeeee-baaaaa-da-daaaaaa) (cor, it's blooming difficult to do counterpoint in text!)
    cannon_ball-2227.gif
    Ba-de-da-de-da-de-da-dee-da-daaaaaa (beeee-daaaa-daaaa-daaaaa-deeeee-daaaaa-deeee)(hang on, I've missed a few cannon_ball-2227.gifcannon_ball-2227.gifs)
(and now you can't hear anything at all because the t9307.gift9307.gift9307.gift9307.gif have started!)

Er, next time I'll stick to manuscript paper! Happy debt-free day, Alex :D

This is utterly brilliant, dare I say better than the original! :D Thank you, for brightening my last two days, may I quote this everyday? :rotfl:

Congratulations, Alex! You have done so well since you started this diary even if it doesn't feel like it.

Please do keep writing, you have a wonderful way with words and I enjoy watching you grow as a person (and that is really happening!).

...heads back to lurking in the corner

Ps. I think you are a very kind hearted and good person and you will never convince me otherwise.

Thank you, I am quite proud of myself that I've managed to do this. I know it's been easier for me than a lot of other people but I found living within my means particularly difficult for the first few months especially.

There are times now when I'm quite close to throwing all the hard work away but when I realise how stupid that is and that I can still enjoy collecting if only I sell on in a few months all whilst earning a few extra £££s. That said I know I'm never going to be somebody who buys their clothes from Tesco and drives a 1.0 litre shopping car.

I really enjoy the writing but hadn't realised anyone would want to listen to me now the debts are behind me. Anyhow, I'll try to keep this updated.

I know, not sure anyone (including myself) thought I could actually do this.

Will try the something positive but that is likely going to be difficult for me. ;)

    Thank you, Bess.

    Debt-free and Proud!
    Tuesday 13th January, 2015.

    Dear Diary,

Apologies for not responding yesterday, to cut a long story short I signed up to a course in September and the first lot of work was due tomorrow so I've been busy completing that. Fortunately, that is over with until next time now. It's not like being a full time student with work (yes, as in job, not hobby ;)) and a family but I'm still enjoying learning new things.

Currently, I'm mostly looking forward to the cheque clearing and being able to officially say I am free of debt. Though it is most encouraging that Mrs. K. spent her yesterday evening making a workspace for her days which are meant to be spent working from home but all too often end with her staying at a hotel or a friend's house.

Unfortunately I have not been well and it is on days like these that I consider whether or not it would be a good idea to bother my GP once again. On the positive side, it has been a low spend day and I got a phone call from my mother explaining she's preparing the apartment in Spain for April.

    Yours Faithfully,
    Alex.
