So why not break with tradition and invite them to your home for Sunday dinner ? Maybe your mum would welcome the chance to relax on her sunday instead of cooking ?Its just a bad day, Not a bad life .. :cool:0

Mara: We did Christmas last year because father wasn't very well and it actually went really well.
On a similar note, we have invited my parents over for dinner (especially when our son was very young) but mother will have none of it; she really enjoys cooking (which neither of us really do) and her food IS delicious (if a little repetitive).
On the subject of more money saving, we shopped in Aldi today, instead of Sainsburys and found the experience to be not so bad.2018 totals:

We are very grateful to my parents, especially for all the help they give us with childcare, I know our son really tires them out. Starting to wonder if a couple of days at nursery would be good for him but not sure whether now is the right time to be looking at this (what with us wanting to save money).
eBay is already getting lots of views / watches and bids, so yes fingers crossed. I know I'll be sad to see some of my things go but the motto has GOT to be on wards and upwards now.Telling myself this doesn't seem to make it that much easier though.
Busy day tomorrow as I've got work in the morning, phone calls to make ... and god knows how much other stuff. Really should have an early night and go to bed now.2018 totals:

It will get easier
the first few weeks are always hard trying to put into place all the new MSE ways to help you out. I bet once you've parted with a few things on ebay and realised it's easier than you thought, you'll be selling anything not nailed down (like I think we all have done at some point or another):rotfl::D

Mmmm.... Discovering Aldi, halving mobile bill, and the self respect of not asking to be bailed out. Nothing boring in that. And excercise, and a free glass of wine. And did the pens go up for sale. Quite a big day. And a free meal that gave your parents much pleasure. Your cup runneth over.
When does son get his free nursery hours? Or has the government snatched them away too. Ten years ago it was the age of 3 I think.
Onwards and upwards, have a good day. Car insurance renewal for me. Now that's boring. I've done it so well these last few years, I can only aim to knock a tenner off for the year.0 -
bess: Aldi is not exactly a new discovery, when it first opened around here, everybody went! Yes the pens (well a small part of the collection
) are up for sale
.
Son gets 15 hours free nursery hours from the start of "spring" term (January). My wife and I should do some looking into that, must admit we are both quite reluctant to let him go (especially for 15 hours a week) to an unknown environment. We have heard some horror stories.
You've reminded me that I need to ring my car insurance up, the best I've done so far is £89.00 for the year but that (with Lancaster) is for the Triumph, so is perhaps cheating a little. LR is £289 with the Farmers Union and BMW is £240 through a local broker.
Well, some of the phone calls are already done; I'm registering with a new GP this afternoon. The old one was a "one man and his dog" type of business, yep, we still have those in Derbyshire; new one is absolutely huge, so we shall see. Realised my wife and son can do without having to deal with me when I'm feeling at my worse, so hopefully something will get sorted properly this time, that is not to say I don't feel ill at the thought of going.
Work needs doing first. Tomorrow and Wednesday work almost turns into a full time job, for the first time ever.2018 totals:

Worth giving it a try. You can always pull him out if he's not enjoying it. My LO loves it. Scampers off into the room and doesn't look back!
The nursery I go to has CCTV so I can log into the system at work/home and see how LO's doing. It made the initial process of settling in much easier (for Mummy!).Mortgage when started: £330,995

Took my son to a mums and toddlers that you were supposed to leave then at when they were two. But I usually stayed as that was what he and I were happy with - I liked helping out and knowing he was happy - not wanting somewhere to just dump him.
Re your pens - keep a folder of the pictures - not quite the same - but you can still look at them.
Good luck with GPs.Great opportunities to help others seldom come, but small ones surround us every day. -- Sally Koch0
