On the contrary - I hope the Elf gets up to LOADS of mischief on his last night
Hope you feel better soon Alex - winter bugs and sniffles are no fun at all. It sounds like you have a lovely Christmas planned!
I'm a little nervy about the day itself...my mum will be meeting OH's parents for the first time! Eeeek!
On a sad side, some nasty creatures have stolen the decorations me and Mum put on the memorial bench for Dad and Grandparents. They weren't expensive, but who does something like that??
Oops...sorry to rant. I just hope that's it for bad things and that Christmas Day itself is fab.
I hope you all have a wonderful and peaceful festive time!

:rotfl: Don't worry about that, he will. I'm rather sad he's going back to Santa tomorrow.
Eeek indeed, wishing you all the luck in the world with that and very sad (and more than just a little angered) to hear about your Grandparents grave.2018 totals:

Aw thanks Alex - we'll miss hearing about the Elfscapades!
It's not a grave as such - I think I might be throwing hellfire and brimstone if it was - Dad, Nan and Grandad were all cremated, so we approached the council about having a bench put up on the promenade at the local beach with their names and dates on plaques. There's a few benches like thatNicking the decorations is still an awful thing to do though - hope karma gives the thieves a good bite sometime!
Am looking forward to giving out Christmas gifts - apparently people are looking forward to the fruit-infused vodka! Just a shame I'm designated driver...sigh

Heartbreak - your intentions were fine and you did the right thing with your decorations - so try not to fret they have gone - if you believe then you will know your relatives knew what you did - what happened afterwards is immaterial.
(I know I always liked putting holly wreaths on lots of relatives graves before Christmas - but mobility problems and steep graveyards have meant that has now stopped - but the intention and thought is still there - which is all that really matters).

Thanks Roland. I'm not spiritual or religious but my relatives always loved Christmas and it was a way of including them. We did it though, and that's what matters for sure - the love is there.
Apologies from me too Alex!

Monday 23rd December, 2013.
Day 117.
Dear Diary,
Today has not been just another manic Monday. However, it's not been a particularly great day and parts of it have reminded me of some of the reasons I really disliked Christmas. Oh and the weather has been awful!
Debt busting has been non-existent and this will continue along this for probably the rest of the week even though little money has been spent.
I have also been reflecting and realising guiltily just how badly I used to treat others, though despite trying I am aware there is a long way to go before I can be labelled a "good" person. Hopefully this shall come with my awaited financial solvency.
Summary:
I am unsure of what I've spent since my last entry, it has not been much.
Yours Faithfully,

Wednesday 25th December, 2013.
Day 119.
Dear Diary,
Well, that was Christmas. I gave it a chance, though likely will be back to having at least a mild dislike of it next year, what started a great day ended on a sour note at the in-laws.
Highlight of the day has to be a Christmas day morning greenlaning before present opening. I did not ask for much though received far too much and that was just for dinner!

Well no Christmas is perfect for anyone I don't suppose - we have to make the best of it and try and remember the good bits. I am sure you have happy memories of little one enjoying himself.Great opportunities to help others seldom come, but small ones surround us every day. -- Sally Koch0
