For online writing, try Textbroker. I've made a few quid from this in the past. At one point I was earning over £100 a week when I was getting some large orders from a client that liked my work.
The content is often pretty dull and it can take a while to get started but once you've shown you can write well, then you should be rated a 4 star writer. I think the pay rate is fair. Getting onto the Team Orders is one way to get some bigger pieces to write.

Go over to the up your income board. I'm sure there are a couple of threads on there about writing for income, including blogging etc. Might be a good place to start to get an idea of which direction to go in.For online writing, try Textbroker. Tuesday 29th October, 2013.
Day 59.
Dear Diary,
I am afraid to say I will be once again neglecting this diary for since 8.30am this is the first time I've stopped. Thus, I am aware I will not manage to write an entry up to my usual standard; funny how the moment I mention perhaps investigating making a few quid out of writing , the standard of my diary entries drop. Hazarding a guess here but I'm fairly certain that's called "sod's law".
My proactive listing on the auction site we all love to hate did pay off today with one item selling for £1,000 out of eBay, meaning I shall call today a success on the debt busting front even though the real hard work was done two days ago.
Here's hoping for a quiet day tomorrow, or I'm taking the 'phone off the hook on Thursday!
Summary:
-£50.00 Diesel - LR.
-£18.00 Butchers.
-£16.80 Groceries.
Yours Faithfully,

This is most likely a bit of a late night musing and I've no idea if any of you will be able to give advice. However, this evening I've been wondering if there would be any mileage in a very recent ambition ( sparked from: FCs comment about self publishing, other peoples comments saying I'd make a good columnist) to get paid to write in some capacity or another - what for and how, I've no clue, which is I believe a rather fundamental problem.
I was looking back over some of my other income ideas from when I first started this diary and realised whilst the music teaching is going well, I have somewhat neglected the other areas apart from the chairs (which will become incorporated into my main business shortly).
The idea of a regular column in a local free glossy mag or paper is a good one as you get to promote your business but not in an obvious way. The content has to interesting in it's own right rather than a long spiel of advertorial.
I am sure you could write a column on collecting/ hoarding/ antique furniture etc
The self publishing site I had heard of was Lulus http://www.lulu.com/
...but I have no 1st hand experience of it all as I have never quite gotten around to penning my own ~(;)) but the vehicle is out there....you just have to do the doing and type it up then try and sell copies?
The party dilemmas seem to have been ironed out and the party bags sound great. Nothing like a bit of gentle communication between everyone involved eh?(!)0 -
FC - thank you for the tips. I am awfully tired tonight from a terribly busy day. Looking on the bright side at least there was no time to begin feeling low.
Both Mrs. K. and I are enjoying planning and making things for the upcoming party. We might even have a go at making our own birthday cake for him, lest we end up with one of father's "scrumped" fruit crumbles.
Now if only my wife can begin to enjoy her job again (still difficult), we'd be the happiest we'd been in years at the moment.Oh and next week is Bonfire Night (embarrassingly I rather like fireworks displays so we shall likely see at least two or three over the weekend and the start of next week).

Enjoy the FW.
Did Mrs K ever get back to the company that head hunted her?0 -
...just before I go to bed......maybe it's the FT aspect that she is not liking as much as she thought she would?0

No, she didn't, though I did tell her to....just before I go to bed......maybe it's the FT aspect that she is not liking as much as she thought she would?
Not so far as I am aware, however even if that was the case she would not admit it. Though, I suppose (much like I have done and I openly admit I could not go back to FT work) she did get used to having a shorter working week than most, so it may well play a factor. She did speak of perhaps looking into becoming self employed herself a few days ago. :eek:2018 totals:

Well done on that £1k sale! That will really help!Debtfree!0

Great news on the eBay sale! Woo hoo!!
Sorry Mrs K is finding work tough at the moment. It must be hard to re-adjust when you've had a long time of different arrangements. By what you say though she is well qualified and respected in her industry so hopefully there are options available to her should she choose to make any changes.0
