Thursday 17th October, 2013.
Day 46.
Dear Diary,
I am very pleased to report a sale amounting to £950 has taken me over the £11,000 threshold and closer still to clearing my debts. However, I have failed to get any of the work I set aside to do today due, yet again, to illness. On the subject of work, my wife is still refusing to complete the job for awkward contractor, despite her immediate superior telling her that he'll be speaking to one of the directors if she doesn't back down. From what she's told me, she has a point. However, there's making a point and shooting yourself in the foot.
Tonight, Mrs. K. and I tried living "Old Style" by cooking an absolutely delicious meal of roast duck, broccoli cheese, chantenay carrots and potato mash completely from scratch, nothing ready made or processed what-so-ever. I have to say we were both far too proud of ourselves with the results so much so we said that we'd pay for tonight's meal at a restaurant, it was that nice. Unfortunately, (there's always something, eh?) I couldn't resist a drink or two to go with our lovely meal and even followed the evening's wine with an Irish coffee. Ought to not make a habit out of that, really as it's not helping the budget nor my depression and I now acknowledge it's not particularly healthy to drink as much as I used to.
Better still after our night of hard work and indulgence we both feel as if we are getting back on track and looking forward to tomorrow evening.

Yours Faithfully,

I'm really pleased about Mrs K and tomorrow, do you both the world of good, and do good for give not take.....
Hopefully workwise - the directors will see Mrs k point of view, as surely safety is a top issue and in theory on that side should side with Mrs K.
Good luck with sale, I guess it was heavy hearted but when your debt free then you can take a new chapter on.
Glad you have got in with the doctors, hope Little K got on ok at nursery xxxx rip dad... we had our ups and downs but we’re always be family xx0 -
Wow Alex, that sounds absolutely delish. Well done to your both. :T
We'll have to see what we can conjure up over the weekend...may have to go and purchase a nice bit of salmon :j
Hope you start to feel better soon. I perked up with a bloodstream full of antibiotics:A Let us be grateful to people who make us happy: they are the charming gardeners who make our souls blossom. Marcel Proust :A0 -

Strangely enough, she's said she is looking forward to it, also Friday is her half day at work so if the weather is nice we'll go for a lunchtime "picnic" in the LR. Mrs. K. has planned to take son swimming in the morning (yes, he doesn't mind getting up early).
As for the directors, it'd take a very brave man not to agree with Mrs. K. .... Seriously, though, this isn't really to do with her work but how she handled the situation. Now I've heard the whole story, I kind of don't blame her but I wish I could say "no thank you" to my customers sometimes.
Thank you and yes, it was heavy hearted, in fact I was feeling rather low a little earlier. On wards and upwards....
I'm hoping the threat of going to the doctors will make the illness run off before Monday.Felt rather embarrassed ringing them again and I kind of think they have started to realise who I am,
. Quite a feat when one has such a common Christian name as I.
Little K is generally loving nursery, though today there was a bit of an incident with another child - my son did not want to hand over the toy he had.2018 totals:

'Twas indeed but we did not enjoy the washing up!
I always enjoy a bit of smoked salmon and have to admit to having it as a weekend breakfast treat often.
I hope so too, glad to hear you are feeling better.2018 totals:

Just started watching Educating Yorkshire on 4OD and oh my, that singing is particularly awful, I think they not only need me to go and sort out the head teacher's and Mr. Steers' idea of smart dress but their music provision too. :rotfl:
Mrs. K. reckons the kids would "eat me alive" though, hahaha!2018 totals:

Also a half hour 'comedy' on Radio 4 that reminds me of you - The Music Teacher!!Great opportunities to help others seldom come, but small ones surround us every day. -- Sally Koch0

Roland: I'll check it out. I must admit for an educated man I have never listened to Radio 4 for any real amount of time ... because there's no music. :rotfl:2018 totals:

Well just finished watching Educating Yorkshire now and to be honest for the first time Mrs. K. and I actually had quite a lot of respect for the teachers at Thornhill; despite their comedy cufflinks and dodgy ties they seemed to really want to help troubled child Jack.
By the same token, it really made me feel very grateful for the home life I had growing up as I can see how one can end up in a position such as Jack's when things are clearly problematic at home. I did grow up rather privileged, really.2018 totals:
