Aww sorry to hear that Lantanna!
I couldn't tell you how many rejections I've had since I've started looking. I was so close to giving it all up and move elsewhere. It's not nice but it's their loss.. The right job is waiting for you somewhere!! Cheer up and wishing you all the best!

northernireland10 - Yes I did get into my first choice area! but to be honest I wasn't that fussed about travelling.. a job is a job.. can't be picky these days!

    Thank you

Yes I've brushed myself off now and resigned myself to the fact that it was for the best and its not the right one.

Hard to take the rejection, general feelings of not being good enough and general kick to the stomach feeling that it brings..:rotfl:

Competition for any good jobs are fierce and I suppose anyone looking for a job will face more rejection they may normally have done. Congrats on finally getting your job. Hopefully my day will come.!
  • I recently (28th oct) had an interview for the AO competition. I heard back on the 13th Nov that I have been deemed suitable for appointment. I then recieved a further email on the 19th Nov telling me I was 169 on the merit list but that as of yet there was no timescale for the placement of applicants from the Merit List. I am already Access Ni cleared working for NICS in a temporary position

Does anyone know anything on whether pre-appointment checks have been sent? Or any information regarding the placement of applicants?

    Many thanks

    Hi,

I'm in a similar position. I had an interview around the same time, and seem to have received the same sort of emails about positions on the merit list and all that. But other than getting a copy of the scripts from my interview in the post last week, I haven't heard a peep. I was placed a wee bit higher on the merit list too, in the 140s.

I'll probably contact HRConnect again in the new year to see if they can provide any more info. In the meantime, it would be interesting if anyone else involved in this competition could let us know if they've heard anything.

    Cheers.

I placed in the 80's on the list but i've been told there are no psitions in my first choice area available and they'll work through the list in order etc. Shortly after getting that though i got a request to submit papers for a security check so who knows?

Where was your first choice area? After going through HRConnect for the job I'm currently in I know it didn't did too long from getting the security check to then getting an offer of employment. Wonder if they are going through the top100 on the merit list doing the security checks.

Belfast, when i was in HR connect a few weeks back dropping the stuff off there was a guy there being offered a job in the CS and he made himself as awkward as possible about it. The mind reels.

Flip I thought most of the positions would be in the Belfast area. The mind boggles, plenty would grab that job no problem.
  • Well I've got my offer but it's in the child maintenance service and given the number of nightmare stories I've heard from people who work there I'm minded to turn it down

Really? I believe you should at least make up your own mind, it is like any other job. Keep your head down and do the work and there should be no issues.
