This Time I'm Really Going To Do It

Watty I stopped drinking many years ago when I started getting hangovers. To me, the being drunk just wasn't good enough to lose at least half my Saturday or Sunday (or Friday! My weekends started Thursday night back in my late teenage years). I know that was a completely different scenario to yourself but I think you are correct to decide not to be a social drinker at the moment. The trouble with that idea is, its easy to start with great intentions but after a glass or two another glass seems like a great idea.
I also would much rather have my car or bike to get me home once I decide to leave rather than waiting on buses or taxis.
The only thing I would warn you of which I'm sure you'll already know- you might start coming home a lot earlier lol. Having a great time when drinking takes on quite a different tone when you remain completely soberdrunk people who talk rubbish, shriek with laughter over things that ain't funny and think they are very clever, amusing and not in the least drunk themselves- oh how quickly it palls. I'm not talking about you and your pals, I'm remembering work nights out, weddings etc from my own past.
Keep in mind, its not forever, you are just having a little reset

Daisy you are so right. My intention on Saturday was to have 2 glasses max but then after that the rest just seemed a good idea! If I drive then I simply can't so it will not be an option. I smiled at the coming home a lot earlier LOL. That would be just fine too. I'm still struggling with anxiety after the last colic incident so being home early and checking on the horses and an early night is probably a good thing re the anxiety too!Made it to mortgage free but what a muddle that became

I also resolved to moderate my "occasion" drinking after one person's birthday party where the person serving champagne didn't drink but resolved to top up glasses as soon as there was an inch space. I totally lost track and it was several days later when I was advised of a conversation I could not remember. It slightly frightened me as I had around 80 staff and I did not like the idea that I might have divulged anything personal. I do still have an occasional drink, but only locally, and only with good friends I know I can trustSave £12k in 2025 #2 I am at £4863.32 out of £6000 after May (81.05%)

I seem to have completely lost track of my life. Apparently I'm doing two lectures one on Friday and one on Saturday. Neither are written. I didn't even realise I was doing them. Rather than write them I resolved to try to tidy the office. I have been working in a 3 foot by 2 foot square because there is so much chaos everywhere! I would love to say it is better after 4 hours effort but now I have lost an invoice I was about to deal with but I did find the council tax bill and set up a DD for that. I also made sure I got the single person's discount. Off to do a bit more clearing!

I saw this and thought of you (and some of those who hang out on this thread!). Hope you found your invoice!

The invoice was found. Slowly the office is getting tidier. it feels better to be working in a clearer space. I think I will like it when i have properly reclaimed it. I put some stuff in the loft, have a bag for the charity shop, a box of donations for specific charities and a bag of stuff for the ex.
Have had a couple of bad nights sleep. The past haunting my dreams. I'm just telling my self it is my brain going through the filing cabinets much as I go through the office and discarding stuff but the dreams do make me reflective of what has happened.
A work trauma reared its head, it has been an ongoing problem that might implode. I did as much as I could to work on solutions but interestingly I found my mind going to the idea that I could just live in a caravan on a field somewhere for a while with the animals and slowly heal. It seemed idyllic for a while, just me, the horses, the cat and the dog and a pile of good books. It was a nice dream then I dusted myself down and reminded myself that "planning" wouldn't allow it and the money would eventually run out and got on with some work.
The horsebox failed the MOT. I didn't even understand what it failed on really but I came home and asked the VNM (Very Nice Man) if he could explain it so I would understand what a garage said. Not only did he explain it but he said he could fix it but he didn't have the right socket so I agreed to buy the socket and any other bits needed and a fix has been made and it is back for a retest today. If it passes today and it has only cost me a socket and making chicken fajitas' as a meal I will consider that a very advantageous solution.Made it to mortgage free but what a muddle that became

Great news, the horsebox passed the MOT. The MOT centre advised I get the handbrake looked at so i will do that, but, for now it is fine to use and I understood what and why the handbrake needs looking at sometime in the next few months.
The end of the working day. One lecture done today and the other ready for tomorrow. Tomorrow's audience is quite big I think and i have a table in the hallway at an exhibition so I will need to sort out what I am going to take to display. When I agreed to this I had all sorts of ideas, but, at this point, I'm so tired just turning up and talking will be enough. I'm not going to worry about it more than that.Made it to mortgage free but what a muddle that became
